Upper Division Econ Electives

Upper Division Econ Electives
A lot of the upper division Econ electives have Econ 100A and/or 100B as prerequisites. Can people do fine in classes (after Econ 1) like Econ 119, 131, 136, 182, or 125 without having taken the prerequisites? Do they check prerequisite on class or before your registration?

Having finished just about all of my breadth, R & C, and AC requirements this semester as a freshman, I will try to enroll in upper-division economics classes to claim for the econ major. I have not yet completed econ 100a yet. I have intended to complete 100a next semester (spring 2013) along with one or two econ electives requiring econ 100a, along with Stat 20 and more EC work.

My question is: will I be able to understand the material and get good grades in in econ 131 (with Kamala), econ 151 (with M. Reich), econ 155 (with Klein), and econ c175 (with Lee) without econ 100a? How about other classes like C110, 155, 171,119,C125 and C102?

They don’t check your prereqs at all - just sign up for whatever you want. Can’t speak for all of them, but I took econ c175 w/ Lee and it was insanely easy as long as you understand the concepts. I was a freshman taking econ 1 at the time :)

Economics C110 - Game Theory in the Social Sciences,
Economics 151 - Labor Economics (4) (100A per-requisites) Reich, M
Economics C175 - Economic Demography (3), class is boring but easy
Economics 121 (4) - Industrial Organization and Public Policy, Edlin (100A per-requisites)
Economics C171 - Economic Development (4)

Thanks, Meep1234.
Are there any other opinions for the course list above likely to be open coming spring?

i took econ c175 without even having taken econ 1… still got an A. As noted, boring but easy…
