Upward trend, but still nervous?

This is my GPA sequence (weighted):

Freshman --
3.33
3.45

Sophomore --
3.5
3.9

Junior--
3.91
4.0

Senior (predicted) --
4.17

My cumulative GPA without the senior year grades is a 3.68 weighted, and this really scares me. Do you think my huge upward trend will excuse my lower grades early on or no? My dream school is Rice. :/

What’s your unweighted GPA? That’s probably more important because every school weights differently.

I know that UCs have created their own system for weighting GPA, but from my understanding, most colleges only care about unweighted GPA.

My school doesn’t give out UW GPA, but I’m sure it is not terribly far from my current GPA. Honors and APs are both given a .33 boost.

Basically what others have said, unweighted is what matters more. Do you know what your unweighted GPA is, if not can you estimate it?

It’s not hard to calculate your unweighted.

Add up all your grades from every year, letting A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. If it’s a half credit class, then divide those by two.
Then divide by the total number of credits attempted. (This is the same as the number of credits earned unless you’ve failed a class.)
