Hey guys, I collected my visa and the information on the 'annotation' part of the visa was typed wrongly (ie my college address was spelled wrongly and the date under the annotation part was put as 20008- yeap 20008 you didnt read wrongly and I didnt type wrongly) the guy there insisted that the annotation is useless and won be read.. but I just don feel comfortable.. how can I push for it to be changed? Should I go for the change? I am like so frustrated..

Who said that it doesn't matter? Was it an official? If not, go back to the embassy and talk to an official or try and call.

well, i haven't gotten my visa yet and dunno what the practice is, but I would have complained until they fixed it.. call them, show up in person with the misspellings.. "useless and won't be read" is HIS words, not everyones.
besides, what kind of impression does that give of the visa-issuing institution.. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be changed.
good luck in trying to getting it changed!

I went there THREE times and talked to the same guy.. I almost cried the third time.. he was so angry (when I should be the one who should be angry.. I paid so much just for misspellings?) and scolded me.. OMG.. He kept on saying the annotation is for the embassy officials here to see.. but if that's the case why did he print on the visa itself..
He said he asked a higher ranked official.. but then so?.. why can't he just change for me..???

I didn't have the chance to talk to the other higher ranked official who gave me the interview.. I can't seem to meet him..

I think I should keep trying right? Would he like cancel my visa because I insisted and 'didn't listen to him'??

First, get a grip on yourself. You didnt tell me if the guy you were talking to is come receptionist or an official? Just try and find someone else to talk to other than him.

He wasn't a receptionist.. I am not sure if he was an official.. but definitely not the highest ranked guys there..

Well, I suggest you call the general service number of the embassy and ask the person on the phone if they think it will be a problem. You will likely be talking to someone else. You can also call some other embassy (maybe even one in a different country) what they think about it.

But honestly, I think you should be just fine with "20008" instead of "2008" on your visa. As far as the address goes, no one cares. The important address is the one in your SEVIS record (i.e. your I-20), not the one on your visa. You can change the SEVIS address as often as you need to. You would not even get a new visa foil if you transferred - even though the college on your visa would no longer be the college you attend. All they would care about is that you get an updated I-20 from your new college if you transferred.

I somewhat agree. For my case, it was my I-20 that got screwed up and I ended up emailing the I-20 back to my school.

You could try calling / emailing someone else in the ambassy, as suggested by previous posters.

Tell you what. Try calling the United States Education Information Center (USEIC) and speak to Karen:

Who We Are

She is the director in USEIC and has extensive experience for all kinds of visa problems. If you talk to her and explain your situation i am certain she will point you in the right direction.

Good luck.
