Urgent Brown Why Major Supplement Question

Short and to the point. I can’t seem to find the answer to the question anywhere online. At Brown, would I be able to dual concentrate in computer science and Business, entrepreneurship and organizations?
Thanks in advance, and good luck to all the fellow procrastinators out there!

Bump

@y2JRedskins It’s 150 words. If you aren’t sure if you would be able to do a dual concentration in those areas, pick the one most important to you and a sentence about one of the other areas that interest you. Good luck!

Thanks for the help! It seems CS requires 16-17 courses and BEO (Entrepreneurship and Technology Management Track) requires 14? There seems to be course overlap in the technology management aspect, so I should be able to double major right? I’m only asking cause I’m planning on writing a couple sentences on how I will pursue these interests at Brown.

Can any Brown student or alumnus please confirm?

My daughter who is a CS major at Brown says yes, it’s possible although she doesn’t personally know anyone doing this combination. She says that students double majoring in CS plus something else can opt for the BA in CS which has fewer courses required so they can more easily complete the two majors in 4 years.

What ciervo says is accurate. It is extremely difficult to double major with an ScB - most who do it take 5 years. One of the reasons to go to Brown is to take advantage of the open curriculum and if all your class time is taken up with concentration requirements, you can’t do that.

In terms of career opportunities, a double major is not necessary. You can concentrate in CS, take some BEO classes, and write a cover letter that specifically mentions those classes.

Plus, you don’t have to make any real commitments until sophomore year. If this is just to help you answer the application prompt, don’t agonize so much. Just indicate your interest in both and why. You are not beholden to your response if you get accepted.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I don’t know if I’ll actually go through with the double major, although I will consider it if admitted. This was primarily for essay purposes. Thanks again!
