Thanks guys

I would say match for Cal, UCLA, NYU. Don’t know about the others. For the ivies I would say fair chances but you know, they are a reach for everyone.

Your scores are great, your GPA shows an upward trend, and your EC’s are solid. With that being said:

Harvard - reach
Yale - reach
Stanford - reach
Princeton - reach
UPENN - reach
Cornell - low reach
Columbia - reach
Rice - low reach
Berkeley - somewhere between low and high match
UCLA - somewhere between low and high match
Georgetown - low reach
UofChicago - low reach
NYU - high match
Duke - low reach
Brown? - low reach

I can’t say how being an international applicant will affect you, though. Could change those chances.

Is getting a grade below 90% in Canada not as bad as getting such a grade in the U.S.? Your grades seem too low for every school on your list, and I could easily see you being rejected by all of them.

@12345n‌
High reach > reach > low reach > high match > match > low match > safety.
Also, I think UCB and UCLA are almost equally selective.

Hmmmm…not that it matters but why’d you join a lot of ec’s in 11th? And not earlier? Again, not criticism, but don’t want any haters

An 86% is an A in Canada. My school is nationally recognized also with higher standards. An 88% can get you in UCLA, and a 94% can get you in Stanford.

In 10th grade, you have four scores below 86%. Does that mean that you have four “B’s” in 10th grade? If so, that could devastate your chances for UCB and UCLA. I might be wrong because I do not know much about applying from Canada.

Yes 4 Bs in grade 10. One of those being PE though! I was hoping that my grade 11 and 12 marks will make up for that? 97 would be top in grade. People apply with a 93-94 for most ivies from my school and make it.

A friend of mine had an 88 in grade 10 and a 95 in grade 12 and he got into Cornell. No ECs or leadership really.

Sorry, I did not notice that one of your “B’s” is in PE. Three “B’s” in 10th grade could still hurt you for UCB and UCLA, but I think you have a decent chance to be accepted by them.

My UC GPA is 3.98. I was more concerned about the other schools than the UCs. I am sure they will notice that a 97.5% with mostly APs is good enough to make up for not stellar results in 9&10? The last person who got into Harvard from my school had a 94.

That UC GPA is pretty low. I’m a California resident with a 4.00 capped UC GPA and a 2300 SAT score. UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, and UCI rejected/waitlisted me because my GPA was too low. UCB and UCLA were the most selective schools on my college list.

UCB, UCLA, and NYU are the least selective schools on your list. If your chances for UCB and UCLA are not great, your chances for the more selective schools are probably much lower.

I think most colleges do not care much about 12th grade because students apply to colleges before finishing 12th grade. 10th and 11th grades seem to be the most important years for colleges.

My school has a program that says how many people have applied to which school, who got accepted and what GPA they had. UCLA accepts 75% of applicants from my school and UCB accepts 64%. Average 88% GPA for UCLA and 90% for UCB. Average SAT is 2000-2100 for both and 31 ACT. So I’m hoping after seeing this statistics that either they unerstand the strict marking system my school has or that they will notice I am 8-7% above their average accepted GPA on my last year and 5-4% above on my grade 11. Idk I’ll see.

And when you said low. 3.98/4.00 is not that low? That is 0.02 off isn’t it? Sorry not familiar with your system.

My capped UC GPA is 4.00, and I consider my GPA to be low. Your GPA is about the same as mine, so yours is low too.

Edit: Is 3.98 your unweighted GPA or your UC weighted GPA? Does Canada have weighted courses?

Unweighted I beleive I don’t recall it asking for honours or college classes. I’ll double check that though.

3.98 is a really good unweighted GPA, but I’m not sure how that is possible with the number of “B’s” you received. Assuming 3.98 is your unweighted GPA, I think you have very good chances at all the schools on your list.
