Urgent help needed !!!

I belive i have adult add . I am not usally hyper and im a normal kid, but i digress often from homework, cant concentrate, and used to have trouble sleeping (i now have a tempur pedic and i go to bed latedead tired) .

I have done much ADD research and i have every symptom except the inability to plan. Im a HS sophmpore and im looking into colleges, know what classes im taking for the next few years, etc. I have taken the online diagnostics and everyone of them reccomended i check with a doctor.

So I have 3 questions.

1) My parents honestly dont think i have a problem. I have fought with my mom and she wont make a phgone call just to set up an appointment (this angers the heak out of me since shes willing to drive my little brother 1 hour to a baseball game). How can i set up an appointment if im only 15 ?What should i do ?

2) Are there any good online diagnostics i should look into?

3) Is medicine worth it know it effects many negatively. What about therapy ? Does it work, and how long are the visits usually?

3.5) Mini question. I cant go 1 second without shaking. My hands are always shaking, my foot taps, my pen taps, etc. I cant hold a pen still, i cant eat a sand which without my hands shaking. And i honestly try hard to stop my hands from shaking and i cant do it. my freinds joke that i have parkinsons. Whats wrong?

There's obviously something going on with you that needs evaluating. I'm sorry you are going through this. What does your Mom say about the shaking? I'm most concerned with that, and would start there. Point it out to her, and ask her schedule you to see your pediatrician.

If you have asked and she won't do that, then think about this: Can you get to your pediatrician on your own? Others may disagree with me, but my advice is to take this into your own hands if that is the case, and call and schedule an appointment on your own.

I'm not a medical professional, but I do know that many conditions can cause shaking like you describe, and part of the syndrome is the inability to concentrate.

Finally, do you take any medications (prescription or over the counter, including vitamins and herbal supplements)? Take a close look at them if you do, to see if any of them are causing these symptoms as a result of side effects.

Let us know how it goes.

Donnap99

No medications or drugs. Mom says "oh well i shake too" , she barely does. Its not seroius shaking but i cant hold anything sturdy. They wont take me to the doctor for anything, not because of money, but because my dad thinks im "just making up excuses"

mtf do you have problems with sweating and intolerance for heat?

Nomad

I dont sweat alot, but i dont like the heat very much.

i was just thinking that you may have an overactive thyroid gland...too much thyroid can lead to shaking hands...excessive sweating...heat intolerance...drastic loss of weight...idk just throwing around ideas thats most likely not it

Naw im over weight, and dont sweat much

The shaking needs evaluation, and it is a separate issue than tapping and ADD.

Sit down with your parents and talk to them about this face to face. Or, wait until your next annual physical, and talk about it in confidence with your doctor (your mom won't come in with you!). Perhaps your doctor can be the bridge between you and your parents.

Good Luck!

all music

Next physical isnt for 10 months...to far from now.

Is there a school nurse you could see?

just because your overweight doesn't mean you don't have thyroid issues, you can be overweight and have thyroid issues. Go to the school nurse or obtain a copy of your medical insurance card, and make an appt. on your own if the co-pay is reasonable...or speak to a close family relative that wil take you seriously. You can also call your family doctor, if you have one and ask the nurse to have him or her call you back and then the doctor can call your parents and explain to them what needs to be done.
