Urgent Question regarding Harvey Supplement

Okay, so i chose the third prompt

In a world where technology continually adapts and progresses, Harvey Mudd College expects that our students will be aware of the impact of their work on society. How would you use new advances to improve your life and/or the lives of those around you? Describe your idea and its potential impact. Feel free to be as creative or as practical as you like.

Now, I wrote about addressing a world-wide issue in modern times. Some of the methods I suggest or "ideas" I suggest are not necessarily all mine. I researched on my topic and found some brilliant ideas. So my question is: Do these "ideas" using technology to improve people's lives have to be entirely original on my part? or can i borrow some ideas, and elaborate on them in a different perspective?

I've alrdy finished my supplement, but i'm kinda paranoid right now about this issue.

Thanks!!

^ I think you can just cite sources at the end of your essay (that’s what I did). But do make sure that put something originial in the solution. You don’t want to just copy and paste.
