Hi! I'm going to have my interview this Thursday for Princeton at a local cafe. I had a few questions concerning etiquette. Am I supposed to offer to buy him coffee? Should I already be sitting down if I come earlier than him (which I probably will, because I don't want to arrive late)? Any other tips/advice would be very helpful.

My interviewer offered to buy mine, so I don't really know what to say there. I would be sitting down if I were you - I actually purposefully came just slightly before my official time because I /didn't/ want to be the first one there - that comes off as too desparate to me, personally. Plus my interviewer knew I was coming straight from crew practice and might be late, so it wasn't a big deal.

But really, interviews are not something to get all worked up over ;) Just have fun and be yourself!

did you let him buy you coffee? haha, interviewers would probably go broke if they had to buy all the applicants coffee. i was under the impression that most interviews were at the interviewers house or something.

I'm pretty sure that they all offer to buy you coffee or something of the sort (if you're not at a house or office)...if you're not into coffee, I'm sure he or she would buy you a hot chocolate. Definitely let them buy the drink, as they may be quite insistent if you resist.

that seems kinda weird, but cool. i'd much rather have my interview be in a house or something more private than a coffee house. cant wait to have jim macwilliams buy me coffee ;) heh heh heh

hah! wouldn't that be funny if whoever bought their interviewer the coffee got in automatically.

They'd never expect you to pay, so offer, but know that they'll refuse. Nothing wrong with letting them buy you coffee. They most definitely would not go broke, since they are Princeton grads and most likely successful enough to afford coffee for two!
