Urgent: Questions about UC Apps

Hey i was kinda worried because i had numerous questions about the UC app and then i found this site! I hope it works out…

well here are my questions. Last summer I completed an internship at Cal State LA with a professor . I basically just did a project and presented it, etc… How can I list that on the UC application? Would that be considered extracurricular or work experience? I know work experience is like only PAID work, but I don’t know if my internship was really extracurricular…or was it?

Another question is about a national student leadership conference that i attended…it was called “National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Healthcare” Is that considered a educational preparation program? or is that also extracurricular?

Thanks , louis.

UC is is weird. For EC, you put how many weeks each year, which seems to imply year round stuff.

I think you internship was EC. I think NSLC is EC as well.

The killer on UC is they only allow for 5 EC's. My dd has 6 major ones, so she's putting a year long fundraising chair position under Comm Svc instead of EC. Otherwise she'd have to drop a varsity sport off EC. The point is, you might want to fudge on these categories if you max out in the category.

We still haven't figured out how to put an overseas language immersion month.

Thanks for the info bettina

But, is it possible to list my internship under work experience and then in the description I write that it was a non-paid job/internship that I completed?

any more thoughts?

hmmm i have one more question guys..please help out :(

over the summer i did a Leadership Training (dale carneigie , excuse the spelling) does that count as EC along with the national student leadership conference?

Yes, it should count as one. I would put it down if the hrs/week is considerable.
