okay BU lets you send only 2. i’ve got 2 contenders for the last slot.
one of them is from my tennis coach. he teaches at a different school from mine, but he’s my private tennis coach. i’ve known him for 5 years and i’m guessing my rec is pretty strong.
the other is from a teacher at my current school. i really want to select my coach’s letter but i don’t know which would be a more sensible choice. BU is a school that i’m really intent on going to if my ivy plans fail, so i don’t want to mess this up.
i’m going to be sending it out today or tomorrow, so any help you guys?
would my coach’s letter be less significant because he doesn’t teach and never has taught tennis at my school? he’s a USTA certified coach etc etc but he teaches for a different school.

um… pretty sure you can have as many recommendation letters as you like. But don’t go over too much. I would say 3-4 is fine

No, commonapp says that BU has elected to accept only a maximum of 2 recs. they need one, the second one is optional.
But i wanted to send both, hence my original question.

that’s what common app says…
if you don’t believe me, just give BU a call.

Im applying there too and I thought you could have 3. But I would pick your coach. Schools want people who know you best and having a private coach of 5 yrs is perfect.

My D sent two via Common App and one letter by postal mail.
