Urgent - Stanford Admission Question

Hello everyone - I was admitted to Stanford but I had a dilemma in my common app which I realized after being accepted.

I applied early so this was the first application I completed and at the time I was self studying an AP Computer Science A course. I put this in the list of courses I was taking, but because the course was really bad and it would hurt my GPA even if I got an A, I decided to just wait until college. Our school offered an AP Computer Science Principles course, so I replaced my second semester of AP Literature with it.

I didn’t bother to update Stanford because this happened after December 8th (when EA decisions came out), and I was deferred. My counselor said they would take care of it with the mid-year report, and she said thee mid-year report would have shown all these changes; I e-mailed my admission officer earlier this morning describing what happened, but she still hasn’t responded yet. Is there someone else I should contact?

Will I be fine? Is there something else I should do? I’m kind of freaking out.

Hey there @holtenbmx ,

As a fellow admittee to the class of 2022, I’d just like to tell you that Stanford saw something in you, as in “you” in the holistic sense and not just your transcript, when they accepted you. I think you can probably relax. And give yourself a pat on the back! You’ve worked so hard to get into Stanford, and Stanford knows it.

When Stanford accepts you, you are part of the Stanford family. They are not actively looking for reasons to rescind your acceptance. (Don’t let all this paranoia overwhelm you.) But at the same time, do your best to contact anyone who can help you get more information or take care of any mix-ups. After all, I’m not the Stanford admissions office, as much as I’d like to be of actual help.

Point is, Stanford is a school that encourages exploration and intellectual vitality. I think the most important thing is that your schedule maintained a consistent level of difficulty and equally shows your passion for learning and exploration.

Good luck on your last semester of senior year and see you soon!
