thanks! this is just urgent cause i dont know if i should send this tomorrow or not. and if so, slides or prints? thanks so much id really appreciate is something could get back to me!

If it's for CAS Fine Arts major, I don't think they'll look at it. However, if it's for any major in Tisch, including film, photo, etc., I say yes.
Oh, and from what I know, Steinhardt likes disks, so if any of the other schools are the same, I would use a disk if you want. But if you have slides, that would be good as well.

NYU will not look at any supplementary materials if they're not a part of a required portfolio. Here is a reply to a similar question on the NYU Admissions b/b:

"You do not have to send a slide portfolio if you do not intend to major in studio art. Your slides will have no impact on our admissions decision."

If the major to which you're applying does not require a portfolio, it is a waste of time to send it. Tisch will not look at it either.

for stienhardt, its due feb 1st though right? So i wont need to send it in now?

For Tisch, if you have a portfolio, and your major requires a portfolio, yes you can submit a portfolio. I know someone who was admitted into Film Production after he had sent in his AP studio art portfolio. And I submitted in my portfolio to Steinhardt pretty much the day it was due last year[Feb 1st] so you have some time. Just don't go past the deadline!! D=
