My daughter is entering her senior year of high school and is very interested in Ursinus college. she wants to study science, creative writing, and perhaps sing a cappella. She is a "different" kind of kid, sort of shy at first, not great at small talk, but sweet natured and also very opinionated politically. Will the students at Ursinus be open to getting to know her?

My son is a junior at Ursinus and he is getting an excellent, rigorous science education. Top flight. He also has taken a number of English classes, and to date really likes his profs. It is small, so that is a positive for your daughter. It does nto have breadth of course offerings of larger schools but excels at what it has and has a broad selection of science. Weaker on languages and history- not in quality of teaching or rigor but in limitations of offerings. Most of students are local and seem friendly. Athletics is a big deal, but my son is not an athlete. I can’t say if the social scene is right for your daughter, but if she thrives in small, friendly setting could be good.

Ursinus is a great great school, but you also may want to check out hendrix college (maybe a better fit for quirky students IMO). if you visit Hendrix you will want to stay!
