US Citizen in Australia

I am a US citizen studying in Australia and want to go to college in America. I sat my ACT and am happy with my score and won’t be taking it again. I am studying for my final year exams in Australia which decide if I get accepted into university in Australia - different system here and university admission is based purely on these exam results (no GPA, essay etc) . Do you know if colleges take into account an overseas student 's extra workload when looking at their ACT score bearing in mind we are fully focused on our end of year exams and can do little to no prep for the standardized test. Thanks

No, they won’t. What is your score? What schools are you considering?

Scored 31 Thinking of UC Schools - UCLA/Santa Barbara etc

Can you afford these schools at a minimum of $55K/year with no aid? No you will not be given a break on your ACT.

Yes aware of the cost

31 Will be okay for ucsb, ucd uci, ucsc .
Any idea what your ATAR will be?
55k/ year is a lot for something similar to what you’d find in Australia though.

Where are you? Have you contacted the EducationUSA office closest to you?

Get in touch with the counselors there. It is almost certain that people in that office have experience helping US citizens through the application process. They should have ideas for you.

When you do apply, the International Admissions Office will evaluate your application in the context of the system in which you have received your secondary education. Someone familiar with the Australian system will read your paperwork, so yes the timing of your ACT exam may be considered at least to some extent. However, that will not either make or break your application.

Thank you happymomof1

To MYOS1634 thank you - I am tracking for a 96 ATAR - fingers crossed.
