US News Best Colleges 2011 is ONLINE

oh that’s right, sorry. It was Brown that was 16 last year.

All of the upper public Big Ten schools sliped, and now even Wisconsin is ranked behind UC commuter schools such as UCD, UCSB & UCI…

My beloved buckeye drops 3 spots (FYI, it was and still is listed as one of the top Up-and-Coming schools on USNWR along with USC - 3 years in a row!!). I am simply speechless… Time for me to really seat back and chill…

Awww, don’t fret Sparkeye. You should see how Michigan State slipped. Oops, I forgot you went there as well. Nevermind. ;-)

Is the 65% acceptance rate for Illinois real? That’s crazy

Honestly, I am really not concerned with MSU dropping 7 spots at all, because I know that the moment FRIB is up and running in ~5 years, its ranking will skyrocket (especially the ARWU ranking).

For now, I am done with this year’s USNWR ranking. It’s time to get ready for … the football season!!! Go Bucks! :)

Hehe. You know how to get even don’t you! ;-)

^^ Nah… Let’s just say that it’s not easy to be a good physician these days… ;0

Among National Liberal Arts, Holy Cross jumps 4 spots to 32nd! Patriot League schools do well with Colgate, Bucknell, HC.

It’s POMONA–Not Ponoma! :)

I purchase all of my cutlery at Williams-Pomona. ;)

i think my cappuccino maker is from there!

UC commuter schools such as UCD, UCSB & UCI…

Calling UCSB a commuter school when only 14% percent of the student body is from the quad county area around the school (which means 86% of student body have a two hour drive or longer to get to the school) shows your ignorance about the mid tier UCs.

What’s your definition of a commuter school anyway?

UCSB and Davis aren’t commuter lol

Northeastern moved from 80 to 69. +11!!!

^^ Ok, UC ‘regional’ campuses!! I do not want to call them the Cal, UCLA, UCSD reject schools…

Gainers (regional)
+5 UCI
+3 USC
+3 UCD
+3 UCSB

Losers (flagship)
-8 Illinois
-6 Wisconsin
-3 Ohio State
-2 Michigan

… Say no more!!

I still don’t understand your argument. UCSB is more regionally diverse than even UCLA (I did a quick StatFinder search for UCLA Fall 2009 entering freshman, and 35% were from Los Angeles County, and over 53% were from the LA metro area counties).

^^ My bad. I am an Asian from Cali as well. So far as I am concerned, only Berkeley & UCLA are deemed the status of flagships of UC System.

Those two are considered the top of the UC system, but like I said, I wouldn’t call UC Davis or UCSB commuter schools. You might be able to kind of make that argument for UC Irvine, but the other two campuses are in isolated areas that draw students from the entire state.

And I’ll admit, I am biased myself as a UCSB alum. Though I think some of the other factors of the school not ranked by US News justify UCSB’s ranking :D

IvyPBear,
There’s either a typo or typo+miscalculation for Stanford’s ARI. It’s not clear which is the case but if it’s the latter, Stanford should probably be ahead of Columbia.

You’re digging yourself a larger hole, sparkeye…

THere are plenty of students who have chosen UCSB, UCI, and UC Davis as their first choices.

Let me remind you that UCD has probably the best vet school in the nation. UCSB has a great oceanography program with a great field study just down the bluffs and in the lagoon. UCI has a great med center with a lot of students desiring to go there…
