US Performing Arts Summer Programs?

Hi! As some of you might know Im really looking for a really rigorous summer program specifically for acting on film especially meisner but it really can’t be too long or too expensive! So far I’m not having any luck and most application dates are closing so any info ASAP would be so incredibly helpful!! I’m 16 and a rising junior and it would need to provide board.

I stumbled across a site called US Performing Arts that hosts summer camps at different venues. I’ve never heard of them! Are they actually quality? Apparently last year they hosted an acting for film program at UCLA but this year its at Relativity Studios (but not run by them I guess?? But that school also has its own summer camps I’m also curious about!) Its one of the only programs that actually has a program about acting for film. ANY info would be so great thank you so much for reading!!

It’s only five days long though so if you know of any really good acting for film programs please let me know thank you!

Here are two more programs I saw but haven’t heard any reviews from so I don’t know about:

I am not familiar with the film camp. Our daughter did a USPA camp when she was in 8th grade in DC. It was ok -but I’m not sure it would be the intensity you are seeking. Hers was an MT camp ages 13-18. It was pretty basic stuff. She had fun, but don’t think she learned a ton. Although it was on a college campus it was not really affiliated with the school - the teachers were not faculty at the school. Faculty were brought in from other places. USPA was basically just renting space for the camp from the school.

Have you thought about taking the $2000 you were going to spend on a camp, and possibly use it to get some individual acting lessons with someone? This might get you more intensive training specific to what you need and want then trying to find a camp at this point. I think most of the camps who offer the type of training it seems you want a) have already passed their deadlines b) are longer than you were wanting or c) are more $ because they are longer.

I am not personally familiar with any of the ones you have listed. But I am unsure whether they truly will provide the rigorous training you are seeking. Hopefully someone else has more experience with them and can give you an endorsement for them.

@vvnstar thank you so much for responding! yes I knew it wasnt from the school but thats really good to know about what they teach you. I couldnt really tell if they taught you quality things or not. it might differ from program to program but Im glad you told me that! thank you!!

I am sure they will teach you some interesting things. And it will be fun to be with others who share your interest. It just seems you are searching for a different level of training and I’m not sure these camps will be as advanced and intense as you have expressed you want.

My boys did two different USPA camps during summer between Junior and Senior year (the MT and college audition sessions at Georgetown U in DC, and the MT session at NYC Pace/Pearl Studios). In hindsight, if we had to do it all over again, we should have done something like Broadway Dreams Foundation or The Performing Arts Project, but we didn’t know those camps existed. The USPA camps were fine and they actually had pretty high-level working pros teaching the classes, but kinda pricey for what they were. It’s been several years, but some of my boys friends really liked the USPA MT intensive at UCLA.
