I looked online and they said they would start sending out letters to eligible students in January 2017. Has anyone heard anything or received anything?
Website today says: We will mail letters of invitation to all students who meet the qualifying requirements on January 20, 2017. Not out yet.
@MA2012 Thanks for the update! They must have just updated their website.
Updated again to say mailing the week
of Jan 23.
They also said they will post a list of the candidates after they’ve mailed notifications out.
When anyone gets an email or letter, could that person please post here?
My child got the email within the last hour.
This is my first time posting, but I am a long-time lurker who finally felt I was getting good insight and information from CC without giving back, so I know I only have one post, but the email did come from PSP with all the application details today.
Appreciate that! We checked my kid’s email, and she got it too.
The list is up on the website too.
I just got mine today too!
Wow, got mine too! I didn’t know this was even a thing until today, so that’s a pleasant surprise.
My son was notified today that he is a candidate. Good luck to all the contenders going forward!
I’m a candidate as well! Best of luck to everyone
Does anyone know if your most influential teacher was not in High School - can you still use them?
Candidate
Found out I’m the only one in the last 5 or 6 years at my school to be nominated, which is a huge honor for me. But I don’t know if it’s worth doing…I’m in California so the chances of being selected in very low. Plus my gpa is pretty bad and my ec’s are far from stellar.
However, it looks like they place a lot of emphasis on essays. So I don’t know if good essays will trump not making it to USAMO or Intel or anything like that. This is just a huge time commitment…
My S is a candidate too! The funny thing is he’s not on the original list but he got perfect score on the standardized test back in sophomore year. Our guess is his CC contacted the program and they were able to verify so S got an email to apply. So, is perfect score the requirement ?
@sdhotmama I believe it’s usually a perfect score or near perfect score, depending on where you live.
@pineapple86 Which standardized test are you referring to? thx!
I think it’s either SAT or ACT. S declined to release his score when he registered for the test. That’s probably why his name was not on the original list, but it’s now.
