@Hunt tks - I think I read a response that stated the opposite earlier - lol - I’ll wait until the semifinalist list before I even ponder further. :)>-
Does this happen your junior year or your senior year
@studentathlete18 Senior
Notification of semifinalists comes mid-April, right?
That what it says on their website @JuicyMango
So is anyone else struggling which school to pick? Are you weighing tuition and scholarships heavily or just focusing on the school? I thought come 3/30 I would find peace but it’s just become heavier!
@MomEof3 I think it’s impossible not to consider scholarships. Not only will you come out with less debt, which is a huge plus, but also at most schools, scholarship recipients receive special attention that enhance the undergraduate experience. That said, I wouldn’t pick a school I wasn’t that excited about just because it’s the cheapest. I set a maximum budget, and any school cheaper than that gets considered.
Is the Semi-Finals list coming out soon? I think last year, it came out on the 15th, but not completely sure.
@JuicyMango I hope so. All the website says is “Mid-April,” so it could conceivably be any time. Knowing our federal government, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was on the later end of that nebulous time span. I think I found that one year it came out on April 20th, but I don’t remember which year it was.
I think it came out on April 20th last year.
Also, what happens in between the semifinalist and scholar announcements? Do they just review the original applications again? I can’t seem to find much information online.
@pineapple86 More waiting I guess
According to the website, they just review the application again, probably with more scrutiny or something. I wish there was an interview or something because my application wasn’t that good :(.
@JuicyMango I feel the exact opposite, haha. I’m much better at writing than interviewing.
Should be coming any day now…
@JuicyMango That’s what I was thinking. It will probably be Wednesday or Thursday, though.
I think in the past the list has been released between 1 and 2 PM EST.
Has anyone committed to a school yet? Have you found the FA equal among Ivy’s? We are still wtg on some FA so I’m just wondering.
I have committed to Washington University in St. Louis with a full tuition scholarship. I didn’t get any need-based FA from anywhere so I can’t answer your question, sorry! @MomEof3
I committed to Harvard, but I did not apply for need-based aid.
the semifinalist list has been released 5 mn ago
Wasn’t selected as semifinalist - good luck to everyone else!
