US to UK Transfer for an Undergraduate student

Hello Everyone,

Happy Holidays!

I just wanted to ask you a quick question and give you a bit of pertinent feedback on myself first.

I am an Italian national intentioned on transferring my 69 undergraduate course credits from the US to the UK.

I am 51 credits short of graduating from my undergraduate Liberal Arts degree program (120 credits) at the School of Continuing Education at Providence College and I currently have a 3.33 GPA, I won a scholarship for a passed semester, I was on the Dean’s List, I won a small monetary award for my writing in Italian Literature, and I have been a Peer Mentor for incoming students for one passed semester as well, and being a mature non-traditional student I work and seek further technical career training as well in my spare time.

I will be leaving the US in approximately 3 to 4 months (6 at max) and I was thinking that the best place for me to transfer my credits to - was a comparable university/college in the UK.

One important point that I would hereby kindly like to emphasize is that although Providence College is currently the number 1 college in the North East of the US they do not expect stellar SAT’s from its Continuing Education students, and that is exactly my case; hence, if you know of any reputable and same level academic institution across the pond which could facilitate my transfer I would be highly appreciative of your help.

Do you have any of your usual great suggestions, please?

Thank you very much!

DM

The UK isn’t big on transfers. What is your specific major?

Hi Sybylla,

Thank you for responding.

My major reads “Liberal Studies” with a certificate in Leadership Development (Leadership Studies), I hope this helps.

It’s probably just me but I don’t have a clue as to what all the UK examinations and various academic acronyms stand for, I feel like I read and read their requirements for hours but they never get to the point, it reads like an entirely different language.

Unfortunately I have to leave the US otherwise I would gladly finish my studies here (in the US). Please correct me if I’m wrong but from what I have seen so far in the UK’s scholastic system it seems as if they only cater to traditional students (both national and international) and do not have it together (and/or are inflexible) for mature students other than having a few non-ranked online universities like the Open University, which only ranks 500th and takes everyone.

I know that I am possibly asking for the impossible but I was looking for a UK based university/college at a par with Providence College and the Harvard Extension School (I have attended both) which are well ranked, tailored for non-traditional students and are recognized worldwide for having some kind of a selecting criteria.

Thank you very much for all the information that you can kindly provide.
