What was the cutoff for 2013? and does anyone have links to the 2014 or 2015 exams and answers as well as the cutoffs for those?
The cutoff for 2013 was high 20s, cutoff for 2014 was 26-28, and cutoff for 2015 was a 22.5
Thanks! I want to take a mock exam that I know the cutoff for, and I can’t find 2014 or 2015 online. I already took 2013. Are there any others I can access and know the cutoff for?
So are some types of interactions more important than others in the tertiary structure? For example is hydrophobic effect stronger than disulfide bridges and ionic interactions and hydrogen bonds? what’s the order of importance is what i am asking basically
@cheesecake 2012 cutoff was 24. However, for all USABO open exams there hasn’t been a cutoff higher than 30 so if you constantly get over 30 you are fine.
Does anyone remember how many multiple true/false questions there were last year? I know there were 8 points worth of them in 2014.
I’ll be taking the test on thursday - anyone know when scores will be released?
@fifteenpapers According to the calendar, March 8th is when the semifinalists will be notified/posted.
biology olympiad needs to mandate FOLDERS TO BLOCK OUT STRAYING EYES ffs. this guy who sat next to me named albert kept on peeking on my test packet(where i circled my answer), so i had to resort to simply not circling/scratching out the answers which really f’d me up because scratching out and answer and drawing question marks on the test booklet has been the way i’ve been taking tests my entire life… i now understand why they did questions 1-200… and i didn’t want to report albert to the proctor because i’m acquainted with him in case anyone wonders why i should’ve told the proctor. other than that, test was much harder than i expected good luck to those who are taking it!! <3
I don’t want to talk about the test, because I am really nervous about how i did, but did anyone else find this to be a hard test? I was not able to read the animals chapter, and felt like the test was mainly focused on plant, animals, and ecology. Anyone else feel this way?
Please do not discuss even the topics.
@sorashiro that must be so annoying. I used to have a friend who always cheated so sometimes I would just have to put small dots next to the right letter choice and then fill them in later. Once I purposely wrote all the wrong answers to a test, and then changed them to the right answer last minute. She “happened to have” filled in all the same wrong answers lol.
I found this test to be pretty difficult. I also messed up on a few easy things. But please don’t talk about the topics.
^reported
lol what happened??? and that sucks
Oh there was this guy posting links to a spam website.
What even was that test
All I’ll say about it.
took it now
can’t wait until March 8th… Have we stopped discussing at all until tomorrow or is there some Google doc where discussion is still going on?
harder or easier than usual, thoughts?
they say that there are still some people who will take it even after the set official deadline of feb 12, so prob a whole week until it will be safe and everyone has been done testing. test was hard tho that is for sure.
WTF was this test. Really, really hard. Dont listen to any website or person telling you how to study- it’s all problem solving, there are very few give me’s. Study hard and know thay even when you do, this test is still going to feel hard- unless youre like Charlie Gleason or something. This was definitly harder than 2013.
^ @usastudent101 I mean the 2013 test was one of the easier years…
also @sorashiro Many schools receive extensions so I suggest not talking about it at all until March 8th. I’ve seen extensions granted almost a week before results came out.
