<p>Well, if you think about it...
500 people qualify every year (And of course people qualify for different years and it accumulates and such)
MIT accepts.. what? 1500?
Maybe they do accept a majority of them, but not 100%... A high boost, but not a definite acceptance (since nothing is)</p>
<p>It does help a lot, but not 100%.
it used to be only 200 quals
but they started expanding last year with 400 ish
this year to 500.
However, the total number of qualifiers per graduating year is probably only about 200 ish ( 80 ish before).
So far all the USAMO qual from my school ( 3 in the last 4 years that i know of ) that applied in the past several years all got in. however, two of the 3 also had red MOP. All of them also had super great everything else too!!</p>
<p>lol haha. MOP + okay everything else = almost 100% chance (of course there are exceptions for those ppl who have a sucky personality/really offended the admissions guy somehow)</p>
