awesome!

So when do they post the semifinalists?

@greenbat we might have made the same mistake I’m sorry. Edit on helicopter problem: "http://imgur.com/3NkitLg" AAPT has spoken i got it wrong it seems (if the link doesnt word, replace the stars with www.imgur.com stupid cc formatting )

If not, which ones are wrong?

what do you do if you dont have a webassign account

Wow, this got really intense. That’s an incredible thought process behind choosing what you guys did–I just eliminated the answers I knew for sure couldn’t be it and then quickly tried to visualize what a rope dangling from a helicopter might’ve looked like. And you’re right, there was no object being carried!

Do you guys know when they’ll update the website?

@PHYSMATH how the **** did you take it without a webassign? go to the webassign site and send yourself your username you probably forgot you made one .

So which multiple choice was right for the helicopter one?
C or E?

Answers are scrambled so thats not going to help… BUT its the curved one that ends straight down and isnt the S shape (apparently)

I don’t have a webassign account either…Our physics teacher had us put our names down on a sign-up sheet of we wanted to take it and we sat for the exam after school one day.

And does that mean that neither answers were correct? It wasn’t the slanted line nor the semicircle?

No its the semicircle, and if you don’t have webassign I dont think you can see your scores. Sorry.

I’m not convinced. I’ll hear arguments before I budge.

me neither but aapt has spoken and unless they speak again I am wrong.

hi

@tbradsworth I believe you spelled t"bradpitt" wrong. Please go back to studying acting, instead of physics because this subject is clearly not for you.

@tbradsworth I’ve contemplated my solution, which you claim has a “fundamental flaw.” I’ve concluded that the only way the problem would make sense with your solution is if there WAS a mass attached to it - the tension on the rope would still increase linearly, but the non-zero intercept (gravity of the attached mass) would indeed result in a decreasing angle as you descend along the rope.

My only inkling as to how this situation possibly occurred is that you are ultimately a mindless sheep, clinging to your “answer sheet” in a desperate attempt to save face due to your inability to solve the problem through a logical and explained approach.

By the time the true “answers” are revealed, I’d like an apology for the conflict between us and confusion among other contributors, all caused by your baseless insistence of your perception on a “correct” answer. I’m sure you’ll grow up to be a great leader someday. Too bad there are no answer sheets in real life to confirm your deceit.

I’d also like an apology for your blatant racism and discrimination, as I’m quite certain that your sheep-ness was an allusion to the nursery rhyme “Baa Baa Black Sheep” which is obviously a racist sentiment extended towards me.

Happy Holidays!

And no, I don’t have any wool for you.

majorineverythin may know physics, but also has some major personality issues

And. Asking for apologies in an online forum? Lmao this is almost too good

@gatsbydies I find your post hypocritical, given that your name is gatsbydies. You are referring to a FICTIONAL character by the name of Gatsby in “The Great Gatsby” and basing your “nickname” on his death. Please go back to fantasizing about fictional character’s deaths instead of posting on physics forums.

@gatsbylives The end was supposed to be sarcastic, Lmao. Sorry if you decided to join in on this conversation with absolutely no context or awareness. tbradsworth was incredibly arrogant and condescending while insisting his answer was correct. I merely sought to clear up this gross misconception for the people who actually are contributing in this thread or curious, unlike you.

I won’t even bother asking for an apology, since apparently you can’t grasp basic sarcasm.
Happy Holidays!
