USC Admitted Transfer Students 2009

yeah, i just got my fa in the mail yesterday. efc was around $10000, but they expect me to come up with $11500 on my own, plus another $1000 in stafford/perkins/work-study. they didnt calculate my expensive move to L.A., which will end up totaling well over $1000 as well. I’m gonna try to appeal, wish me luck!

fafsa EFC and CSS profile efc are different… do you own a house or any type of assets?

Do you have to wait to get your fa in the mail? Or will it come up in oasis first?

you’ll get an email – it’ll be on OASIS first

Ok I don’t know what to do. I was accepted to USC on may 23 but still haven’t received my fin aid. The lady I called said it would be another 2 weeks. But I need to accept housing at UCLA by next week if it turns out I can’t afford USC. What should I do??

caligirl - call them and tell them the situation, tell them USC is your definite first choice, but if you cant pay then you cant pay… maybe they can help you if they know youre in a time crunch… at the same time, call ucla housing and ask them for an extension because you need some more time, i think they will let you do that… :)

chaly - you mean 20k/year or 20k for the whole time youre there at usc ? if its 20k for the whole time, then id def do it, usc is worth it no doubt, well id do it even if it was 20k/year  i get no finaid… :stuck_out_tongue: sucks…

parents do own the house, but they dont have much equity at all. the only real asset i have that would possibly factor into anything would be my car. but i cant remember if they even asked that or not.

oh, just out of curiosity :p

what is efc ??? my guesses are something like, expected family contribution, expected financial contribution or elite fu-cking carrot… although i have my doubts about the last one… :p

expected family/financial contribution. Yeap…def not the last one. lol
it’s 20k a year. And i was accepted as a sophomore…so that’s at least 50k in loans… PLUS the 7000 loans they are already giving me…it would be 27k in loans a year… that’s OUTRAGEOUS!!! bwaaaa! I already contacted them.
Anyone else gotten their fin. aid??

Wow chaly…that’s crazzyyyy. I got my aid a couple weeks ago and it’s pretty good. But my housing assignment is kind of lame…it’s Sierra, nearly a 20 minute walk away.

got my FA like on Monday. All they gave me was like 5k in stafford loans LOL, but all I submitted was my FAFSA since my parents are lagging like crazy and apparently still haven’t submitted their tax returns. I think my parents can pay the whole 50k. We would get very little aid from the govt. since their incomes are quite high but I still think I could’ve got maybe 5-10k from USC.

i had a 99,999 efc… so i just didn’t do CSS hahaha. i’m pretty sure i made a mistake on the application… not sure what made it so high?

in other news, my transfer credit report stinks. i need 6 more semesters and i’m a junior :(

***, am i the ONLY person that didn’t get his financial aid!?

i’m still in the process as they’re still processing my mom’s home information. my efc from fafsa was 00350 and i dont know about my css profile. how do i check that one?

USC took away my Federal Perkins Loan from my financial aid award. i don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing

:) / :frowning: (depending on the situation :stuck_out_tongue: )

i’m definitely going to call today at like 12:01 PM eastern and be like “umm…its been two weeks, and almost everyone heard but me…whats going on :(”

Has anyone heard of USCRental.com? They have great housing deals but in my perspective, the leasing contract has some ridiculous policies >.< I’m worried if this is a trustworthy housing source or not

yeah i checked them out when i was looking for apartments. the company is owned by an asian family and though they seemed friendly and helpful when they were showing me around, i kept getting this bad vibe from them. I wasn’t impressed by them right off the bat because their “office” was a run down room behind one of their units. The studios that are listed at $800 are tiiiiiiny. i can’t stress how small they are.

Anybody else going to be living in Sierra? I accepted my housing assignment, and it would be cool to know some of the people there…
