USC arts portfolio for non-music majors

Does USC have a section for this? I cant find any information on the website. I’m applying to Viterbi engineering but also am strong in music so would like to showcase that.

I don’t think USC has an Arts Supplement. My son is applying to a performance major and an engineering major. You need to put the performance major as your 1st intended major in order to get into the slide room and submit the prescreening video. And you are only consided by your 1st choice major.

Unfortunately, I concur with @pdxtigermom . Unless a first-choice major requires a SlideRoom supplement to be submitted, there is no direct way to upload such. You could endeavor to send something directly to your admission counselor, but I do not necessarily advise it for a second choice major. With 55K+ applicants to be reviewed, overwhelming your assigned admission counselor may not be the best thing to do. And they likely would not even send it anywhere else unless it pertained to a first or second choice major directly. But… if you truly feel that your application packet in total would be incomplete without a certain submission, that is something for each applicant to self-evaluate. Good luck…

People can be considered for both majors they list, but engineering only considers you if you put engineering first. And let’s face it, in SCA with admit rate of 4%, they likely aren’t looking at people that choose it second either, even if not formally said. But Viterbi states it on every road show you see. It is on the slides. Obviously in Dornsife, they will look at either major.

I know of a girl who’s a freshman in Viterbi this year and also a terrific violinist. She is very proud to mention herself being the only non major playing in Thornton Symphony (not the USC Orchestra). Thornton Symphony is reserved for performance major students and of a very high caliber. I think she did show Thornton her music supplements otherwise the school wound not know her music ability but I don’t know how. I’d rather have my son to put Viterbi as his 1st choice major instead of Thornton if Thornton would consider and allow him to put performance as his 2nd choice major. His chance to be accepted by Thornton is much higher than by Viterbi.
