My experience with the BA/ MD is the following:

There is no question that Dartmouth is one of the best undergrad college experiences in the world. It also prepares its students exceptionally. A top student with a strong GPA (3.75+) and a strong MCAT (33+) can expect to get into one of the top 20 med schools, and with some luck one of the top 5 or 10.

That said, getting a 3.75 at Dartmouth isn’t a cakewalk and the MCAT requires significant preparation. I had a friend go to Northwestern HPME and he had a 3.2 and basically didn’t really have to push himself that hard in college. The reality is getting into med school is so tough that I’m not sure its worth it to have to be the cream of the crop again when you have USC med as a backup option.
