USC BME v. JHU BME

Hey guys,

I’ve been accepted to both Johns Hopkins BME and USC BME with Trustee and Viterbi Fellowship / Merit Research Award (among other options), and I just wanted to know your thoughts about which school affords the most opportunities to me, specifically in the case that I want to go into industry, but also in the case that I want to go to grad/med school. My heart kinda lies with JHU because of its ranking, but USC w/ Trustee + Fellowship is financially appealing and damn hard to turn down. Let me know your thoughts, honest question.

Wondering the same thing!!!

Both schools will offer you more opportunities than you (or any human) can reasonably take advantage of. It is an embarrassment of riches. You won’t be restrained by either school. Both schools are what YOU make of it.

All other things being equal (and they are not, since people have other preferences and personalities), the answer is USC due to the financial differences. Saving up money for grad or med school is a good idea - even if your parents can pay for it all, it is still a considerable amount of money.
