USC Class of 2013

So who else is applying for USC?

I'm applying.. Northern Europe.

Anyone knows how high the SAT score has to be in order to be competitive for their full/half tution scholarships?

do u need SAT as an international student to enroll in business school ?

All international undergraduate applicants to USC need the SAT or the ACT

and anyone who went to a school which didn't follow the US educational system also needs to take 3 SATIIs,

Kernbons I was wondering the same thing... I'm guessing something over 2200... but they look at other stuff too like EC's and grade and community service and stuff.

Yeah I figured out it probably was a little high, but considering that not all internationals (especially not-native speakers) manage scores above 700 on the CR and W, I was wondering if they still grant them scholarships. My SAT IIs will probably be 800M 800Phy 760USH, so I'm kinda curious.

It would be unfair to tell intl guys that they have a significant disatvantage because they have only spoken English for a few years.

I would love to go to USC, especially with a generous scholarship (I come from a well-off family, but I won't start my career with like a 200 000 $ loan).

"All international undergraduate applicants to USC need the SAT or the ACT."

From USC website:

"Test Scores
USC requires scores from either the SAT or the ACT (with the optional Writing test) from all freshman international students attending high school in the United States and all freshman international students attending an accredited American or International school abroad.

USC requires that applicants whose native language is not English take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A TOEFL score is required from international students applying for programs in Journalism and Cinematic Arts."

Now I'm confused. From what is described in their FAQ:

"Although it is not required for admission, USC recommends that applicants whose native language is not English take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Only official scores from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) are acceptable."

The TOEFL is only recommended. I haven't bothered to even think about taking it since I got a 710 CR.

I would email the school if you come from a non-english speaking country... just to double check, don't want to not get in on an inconsistency. But did you go to an international school? as in you know the American School or the French School or the German school etc. (which are the ones we have here in sydney).

I feel kind of lucky cause I'm technically a US citizen (my mom was born in New York) so I can at least get financial aid, but unlike you Kernbons I can't actually pay for tuition at all, like its just out of my parents price range, specially with the dollar being so bad, currently the Aussie dollar is worth like 60 US cents, hasn't been this bad for YEARS.

I dont know though my SAT scores are w: 690 cr: 720 m:800 and my SATIIs m2: 760, chem: 740 french: 710 so I just dont know if they are competetive enough :S

No, I go to my country's local school system. I'm the valedectorian of a senior class of ... 13 students! drum roll And I live on this frickin' island in the middle of nowhere with like 4500 people, 23000 deer and 145000 lobsters (not roaming the streets, luckily). The other guys in my class are headed for crab processing after HS. So if I ever was to be accepted into one of 'em elite colleges I would probably recieve the gilded key to the island or something.

They probably won't consider you international since you're a US Citizen who lives in an english-speaking country. But those scores are impressive :)

I want your SAT math score :(

I have to say something about the Math Score... the course I'm taking at school is actually considered first year uni level... hence why SAT math is ridiculously easy.
Um shooting for a scholarship... dont think my scores are quite high enough but cant be bothered to take the tests again...
Yeah I'm not an international student - considered a US citizen living abroad... makes things sooo much easier for finaid :D
Where do you live exactly? Do you mind me asking that?

I have some quite advanced math myself and I really don't have any big problems with it - kept getting 1-2 wrong on the practice tests but on test day I screwed up. :( My composite score would be so much higher with an 800m (+120 pts).

nah, I prefer to stay anonymus on collegeconfidential.. one never knows :P

i'm probably the only applicant from my country, so it would be very easy to track me.. :P

yeah bad test days suck... actually had a really bad day on the day of my English Paper 2 exam... stuffed up my third essay cause I felt sick and unfortunetly thats a major exam because its the only mandatory subject :S

but yeah I understand... there are generally quite a few people applying from Aussieland so I feel generally safe, who knows though, perhaps we will end up at USC together next year! (HOPEFULLY!)

Can I ask why you guys are applying to SC and like stuff that convinced you? I'm just curious..
