My D was able to finally get in to the housing portal during her advisory period at school. She is very persistent. Glad I didn’t have to do it! I can’t get into the financial aid area - keeps crashing.
As long as you are in, you get your timestamp. I think my daughter wasn’t able to finish until like 45 minutes in, but her timestamp was like 9:12am. I think anybody in the morning of today, and even later is very likely to get their first choices. A lot of people do not know how it works and they sign up much later.
@collegiate2019 You definitely want to sign up even if you are presidential. People who got in early for scholarships were already able to sign up for housing. There are are more scholarships than spots. As presidential you are probably ok for McCarthy, but signing up sooner helps. I’d put at least one other dorm as your last choice once you get there.
Any one knows if spring admit can also put down $55 deposit and select housing for Spring 2020?

Hey guys! For those who haven’t applied for Financial Aid and don’t have a FAST portal, where did you guys find your USC ID? I can’t seem to find it anywhere (I thought it was the reference ID in the app but that doesn’t seem to be working)
@“2605 Mandy Way” It’s on your FAST portal (even if you didn’t apply for Fin Aid). Just click on the FAST link given on your USC applicant portal and there’ll be a 10 digit code on the top right
USC ID is in the housing email.

Your USC ID is everything starting now. As important as your social security number for these four years, and for anything you may need from the school later. Lock it in your brain. 
Even though our housing portal doesn’t open til July 1, son is elated to receive more aid than expected. Tough decisions coming up, but I have a strong feeling he already knows where he wants to go
Also read that Spring admits get random housing assignments. Any good housing experiences from previous Spring admits?

Any insights on the freshman science honors program? Does one need to be invited to apply?
Do most kids go to both an April admitted student day (explore or admitted student day) AND the summer on-site 2-day orientation? Seems like lots of trips before even starting school to LA if not local.

@collegemom111111 My daughter is in the FSH program. Those who are invited have a better chance to be accepted but anyone can apply. Once accepted you have to get a certain score on the chemistry placement test. I would say my daughter’s experience is mixed. It’s pretty intense and has the most intense of the science/premed kids but it is a smaller class and pretty friendly curve. I can answer other questions if you have them.
Oh also, @collegemom111111 We did go to both admitted students day and orientation. If you can only do one on campus, I highly recommend orientation. It was great for the student and the parent. We enjoyed admitted students day a lot too. The tone was different because admitted students day is also still about convincing the students to choose USC and orientation is Yay let’s get this going and get you ready for USC.
Me too. I am so axious to see my financial aid package!! I live in Southern California, and to be more specific, i live 10 min away from USC! I thought i would know sooner, based on my proximity??
My son just got accepted as a TPP today at 6:30pm mountain time after getting rejected. It’s a tad bit confusing.
@symonaidanasa - Did his original denial letter mention the option of participating in the TPP? They mentioned it in my DS’s letter but it wasn’t very prominent. He received the official email today.
@symonaidanasa @2timemom my S just received that email tonight as well. His letter last week did mention the TTP invitation to apply which he is now considering.
