USC Class of 2028 — Regular & Early Action Decisions

USC asks to fill out supplement parents Tax form online for financial aid as soon as possible . Someone says that we can apply financial aid by January 5 th? So applying financial aid may hurt admission chance. Hahaha, i am not sure. And it said that they will send email asking for some documents a few days later. If someone got this email from kid this year early action pool, ( if need financial aid) can you share with me? We submitted application about October 17?

Yes, it was sent to everyone

Should we complete online requirements in document library of fast financial requirements for usc applications? There are so many questions and requirements in library in fast page .

If you want to be considered for financial aid, fill out and submit all documents asked for on FAST.

I just wonder since we are not admitted yet but should we do. Since my acquaintance had to do after she got in. Something is changed?

I’ve submitted CSS profile. I have USC FAST showing “1 Item Required” which is FAFSA. We know FAFSA won’t open until December 31. Under “RECEIVED DOCUMENTS” is CSS profile. I don’t see many additional forms or questions to fill out you mentioned. Did I miss anything here? Thanks.

Document library. There are many requirements. Click document library.

I’m not sure who “someone” and “acquaintance” are, but the deadline (meaning the LAST DAY) one can apply for financial aid is January 12 for EA and February 7 for RD.

You will receive numerous requests asking for more information. Some requests may come days before admissions decisions are released. However, you won’t receive anything if you don’t submit your financial aid application before the deadline.

Then, we will have to fill out documents library in fast portal?

Based on my understanding, after submitting CSS/FAFSA, you wait for USC to ask you for additional information. That’s the forms under “Document Library” used for. We don’t need to fill out all of them unless you receive email from USC to request for it. That’s under item #3 Additional Information - You may receive requests for additional information. Please respond within 10 business days.

Do I have misunderstanding?

Yes. You are right. I misunderstood since i got email asking parents Tax information.
Also,if you don’t need financial aid, you don’t need to fill out this form.

Hello.

I have a question. I am really unfamiliar usc fast portal. I mistakenly filled many things in documents library. I am really embarrassed now since we should do after required. If anybody opened library and could submit it like me? I submitted a few things (oh my god) . The second part for submission of doc doesn’t open but first line is opening and can submit.

If you need financial aid, apply for it. It will not impact the admissions decision either way.

As suggested above, USC Financial Aid will often ask for things directly. And they expect you to upload them through FAST. They will list within the FAST portal (for financial aid) everything received and everything still needed. Having already submitted them through CSS will not suffice. Often, they request the same item(s) even more than once. Sometimes, they will even invent a new request, meaning that they want you to generate a letter or explanation to upload. The key thing is to simply take it all in stride and supply whatever they ask for… even if you have already submitted it directly to them before. There is no point in arguing or trying to explain that they already have it. Simply give it to them again if they ask for it again. My advice is to just get used to it. We dealt with it for two students and eight FA cycles.

But generally speaking, the FAO will replicate many requests for items already submitted to CSS. And as stated above, your FAST portal can seem complete time after time, but then they may simply ask for something new or for you to replicate a submission. So maybe get used to checking it often. Or, if you ignore it, they will eventually email you too, telling you to check FAST.

And yes… although it seems to defy logic, Financial Aid and Admissions are on two completely separate & independent paths until when admissions announces its decisions. The FAO will basically learn who is being admitted as you and every other applicant are. But until then, they will work as diligently as possible to get everyone’s FA account/profile completed… just in case you & all who applied for FA are admitted.

So, you will derive no hints regarding potential admissions via the FAO or their communications with you. That is just the reality of how they operate.

Good Luck…

USC is need blind. Applying for financial aid will not hurt admission chances.

I know.
My question wasn’t for it.

I completed doc library question all though they didn’t ask it. So it is so embarrassing. One more my question that my kid got email parents supplement tax form. That was fine. But email said about financial aid supplement. I entered doc library and there is this . So i open it but it asks about course units and housing which question we can’t answer yet.

Its best that you call up the admissions office with your list of questions. I am not clear about what your questions are

I called office today. They said that they got it. First section of documents library, online forms ,(though they didn’ask ) i filled up some. I know that is no problem, however. i wonder if somebody filled online forms like me now.

email for specific, additional scholarship opportunities, came last night

may have gone to everyone or only those that fit criteria based on the specific scholarships

continue to check emails

Are these USC scholarships, I thought the common app was used for all scholarship finalist decisions as well

Daughter received that Leadership Scholarship email as well, but doesn’t fit criteria for either of the two listed, so I’m assuming that message went to all applicants.
