USC Columbia 2nd Review/Deferred students 2023

I wonder why they assigned us a USC ID if they were going to turn him down. They only assign those if accepted per the website. He can get into UT, Auburn, Clemson and Penn State but not good enough for USC???

@amkerr Are you sure it wasnā€™t a VIP ID#? We havenā€™t heard anything either, but I can look up her VIP on the USC page.

@amkerr not sure about USC ID! Any chance some of these small envelopes are deferrals? Has anyone actually opened the mail? Ours doesnā€™t come until around 3:00. Again, grasping at straws and will know soon! Iā€™m sorry @karab1022 did you actually receive and open the letter? Again, sorry if you did! Painful process!

Anyone know if itā€™s a difficult process to change the intended major to something in the business school? My acceptance says political science and I do not want to major in that

You can change it super easy at admitted students day.

yes, my son opened it. accepted to SUNY Albany and Rowan University, still awaiting U Delaware and URI. who knows, maybe he will reapply after a year in-state. good luck to those still waiting!

@Badgersmom he already a VIP # but then Financial aid office requested an updated form and it had a USC ID # in it that was different then the VIP #.

Will find out officially this afternoon I guess.

This has been the most painful process ever.

Oh and he applied by 10/15 deadline and was already in 2nd Review Status to begin with.

I am stunned amkerr. Iā€™ve had students get in UGA and not get in Clemson so I am really surprised for you. Sorry :frowning:

@toppingpfc15 yes, you are in!! Thatā€™s how my S page looked like. if you click on 2019 next Steps for Summer/Fall Freshman it will take you to the Congratulations page! My S just got accepted to his second choice major! I knew something was happening because I got 2nd Fafsa email and, the picture of the museum on the main screen ( when you login into your portal) was gone as well. So happy the wait is over! Good luck to all!!

@Badgersmom mind sharing stats?

@ryanish14 not at all. We have not opened the small white envelope - just know itā€™s coming today. Can assume decline. OOS, 3.8 1170 SAT, Honor and AP classes, tons of extra curriculars (3 varsity sports, work and volunteering) campus visit, interviewed/met with Admissions Counselor and had numerous email exchanges with Admissions. Finally time to move on as we have been talking about USC for over a year!!

@Badgersmom did u apply undecided?

@ryanish14 Psychology. However, reached out months ago asking if I could change and would my odds be better. This was the response back:
. Since our office uses a university level admissions credentials to be considered for admission, changing your major would not impact the likelihood of admission. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Admissions decisions will be rendered soon and students should expect to hear from our office by mid-March

@Badgersmom we also know the small white envelope is coming today. :frowning:
Extremely disappointed. Very similar stats to you and NHS, Beta Club, sports, and tons of activities. We will now decide between Tennessee and a few other schools. Where do you think you will end up? Thanks to everyone for their support.

I just got a small white envelope as well, gateway program

@christinatoto Did it not show that in your portal?

I also got bridged. I honestly have no idea how this happened. I had over a 4.5 last smemester in all DE classesā€¦ they said I got bridged because ā€œthe college classes I took, where not the classes they take at uscā€. I looked at what some people were taking, same classes I tookā€¦ smh

Well, our small envelope was a rejection. My DS took it surprisingly well and Iā€™m so proud of him!!
