USC Decision Release Date?

<p>Hey guys,</p>

<p>Do anyone know when USC will notify you of either and acceptance or rejection? I applied for financial aid (I don't know if that makes a difference or not...) and I was just wondering when I could expect to hear back from them. Also will there be an email or update on the portal in addition to the paper copy of the decision?</p>

When will you hear from us?
All first-year applicants who submitted a complete application by the deadline will be mailed an admission decision on March 26th. Decisions will be available online via USConnect beginning March 29th at noon PT. All transfer applicants who submitted a complete application by the deadline will be mailed an admission decision or a request for spring semester grades by June 3rd. USC does not have an early decision program. Only notification from the Office of Admission constitutes an offer of admission.

I applied for financial aid

Please note that in order to apply for financial aid you must submit both the FAFSA and CSS Profile. Though the CSS/Profile is available now, the FAFSA for 2014-2015 is not yet available, so you cannot have yet fully applied for financial aid.The 2014-2015 FAFSA will be available beginning January 1, 2014. Be sure to check all requirements for financial aid applications to be sure you have done everything. <p>Is there a chance that I could hear from them sooner? I was browsing through last years forums and saw that people were being notified mid-late January…</p>

<p>@mwcgeheee I have been wondering about this as well. I have been told in other threads that only a few that are invited to interview for one of their major scholarships (like presidential) hear in late january/early february. The wait it killing me too!!</p>

Hi Sullivan,</p>

<p>A very, very small percentage of those who applied by the scholarship deadline will hear about their admission in late January/early February when they receive invitations to interview for the “big” scholarships [Stamps, Mork, Trustee and Presidential (non-NMF)] along with a notice of admission.</p>

<p>Most freshman applicants (approximately 97%-98% of all applicants) will receive their admission decisions in late March. Notifications will be mailed March 26th and available online on March 29th.

<p>Seniors who applied by the December 1 deadline and are selected to interview for the major scholarships are notified earlier. It is in the hundreds. This is done in order for the students to make travel arrangements.</p>

<p>Last year this was the number of students who were awarded the major scholarships:</p>

<p>Mork----14
Stamps----5
Trustee----117
Presidential----353</p>

<p>Other major scholarships such as Town & Gown, Jewish Leadership and Panhellenic:</p>

<p>Other major merit----50</p>

<p>There were 156 Dean’s Scholarships awarded. These students were notified later as no interview is required for this honor.</p>

<p>Each undergraduate school at SC awards scholarships to selected freshmen. These are usually not in the large amounts as the Trustee, Mork and Stamps. The university has not released full details about the distribution and qualifications for the new scholarships which will be funded by the anonymous donation of $20 million.</p>

<p>Recruited athletes by NCAA and league rules have in some cases been admitted. Another thread has been posted with the names of these students who have signed binding letters of intent.</p>

<p>If you made National Merit Semi-Finalist with high PSAT and SAT scores, you will have a good chance (though not definite) of hearing before February.</p>

<p>^ Just to clarify this statement----- the notification of the USC NMF Presidential scholarship comes later than Feb. In the last several years, it came in April-- after acceptance/denial notifications. This was for those who had notified NM that USC was their #1 school before this time period. You can wait until later (early May) to do this, however, and the scholarship will appear later. </p>

<p>Only those who are offered an interview slot for the major scholarships are typically given admission decisions before the end of March. </p>

<p>Some NMF will hear in late Jan/early Feb because their application has put them in the interview slots— but not because of NMF status alone. </p>

<p>Every year there are NMF students who are NOT accepted at USC and they seem very surprised. Just want to put it out there that while this is a great achievement, it is not a major hook and doesn’t almost guarantee anything at top 25 schools. It certainly seems that USC looks at the entire application to make decisions. Be prepared.</p>

<p>That’s an important point. There are very few merit scholarships relative to the large number of admitted students. So “not” getting one is nothing to feel bad about. It’s very competitive. I think it’s a good conversation for students and parents to have before the March decisions are mailed so everyone is prepared for a tuition figure that might be higher than they anticipated.</p>
