I also posted this similarly for NYU but I was wondering if it’s possible to get into the acting program or the dramatic arts program with no experience, I have taken my school’s theater classes for my whole high school career so far but never participated in a show. I was thinking of applying with a video audition, would it be smart to hire an acting coach for the time being or just for them to prepare me for a video audition? Or do I even have a chance with the video audition?
The simple answer is yes, especially in terms of just pursuing any of the B.A. degrees within the School of Dramatic Arts. The B.F.A. for Acting will require an audition, so it will be determined by how prepared you are then. Good Luck
Thank you!
you’re welcome
B.F.A. requires an audition. The B.A. program does not. Admission to the B.A. program requires excellent grades and scores and a passion for the dramatic arts. The B.F.A. program only admits 8-12 students. It sounds like you would be better served concentrating on your grades and getting some acting experience to make sure this is what you want to do, than hiring a coach or making a video audition.
Thank you!
