USC GPA on college data

The most recent average GPA is 3.73 (just got this information at: https://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg01_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=1138)

Any idea about how this GPA was calculated? Do you think this is based on USC’s own re-weighting formula? Thanks!

I would refer to USC’s own data which they provide each year in a freshman profile:

https://admission.usc.edu/docs/USCFreshmanProfile.pdf

I would assume Unweighted as to the GPA listed, but they do likely use some additional formula to account for strength or difficulty of courses undertaken.

Thank you @CADREAMIN. This file definitely has more accurate and richer information!

I am new to this CC forum, maybe this is a very naive question: I would like to further understand the “un-weighted” word in “Middle 50% GPA (un-weighted, 4.0 scale)”.

for a school with a 4.0 scale (no matter it is AP or Honor class), will their GPA be taken as face value and won’t be “un-weighted”? Or is there a USC formula that might have two steps: (1) It will give credits/points for those AP/Honor courses first; (2) It will then be “un-weighted” back to a 4.0 scale? In addition, how will USA adjust the different level of rigor from different HS :-?
