USC Industrial Engineering Vs. Berkeley IEOR

Hi guys i was accepted to both programs as a transfer students...i'm just wondering which program is better....in terms of job prospect . I was thinking that it might be easier to get a job with a USC degree because of the networking...but Berkeley seems to have the edge in the quality of the program.. The cost is roughly the same for both schools after financial aid.

also, is it hard to find a job with an IEOR degree? and what types of job do IEOR graduates typically get?

i have to decide by tomrorow...thanks for all the response..

Message CalX ASAP! Also try sakky as he may be familiar with IEOR grads. You might also consider this page: http://career.berkeley.edu/Major/IEOR.stm

Also think about where you want to be for two years of your life, in Southern California a la downtown LA or Northern California a la Berkeley.

I'm kind of pretty busy lately at work, but a few quick points

-The concept of USC having better placement than Cal in business or engineering is kind of an urban myth. And outside of CA, Berkeley Engineering has a far better name. It helped get my first offer.

-Cal Engineering is definitely better than USC Engineering.

Too many job outlets for IEORs to describe, and many go on to get MBAs.

thanks guys....how about in Asia? which name is better?

Berkeley for sure.

It's not even close.

If it's any help, I work for Prof Goldberg (IEOR) and he's a cool guy :D

ok
just SIRed....seems like theres not much debate here

thanks for the help guys....really appreciated.

Welcome aboard cpchang.

Huanying, huanying! ;)

go Bears!!!! now i just hope to graduate in two years...CalX you took chinese before? lol

Go IEOR! I'm transferring from bioengineering to IEOR. It's funny that I would get "wows" whenever I say I major in bioE, and when I started to say IEOR it seems that many people have no idea what it is exactly...

i had no idea what IEOR was before my sophomore year either...

Hopefully employers will know... or become impressed because the name is so long therefore impressive :p
