USC interviews

WHAT? Stop. I'm on vacation and this is going to loom :(. Lol

Yep, scholarship letters are definitely out. I just received a letter. I got the presidential scholarship.

Same. Trustee here! Now to hear from the Bacc/MD...

poop. got presidential when i interviewed for trustee. i knew it would happen though...bombed the interview =( oh well, presidential still is pretty good

congrats to everyone! now we're only waiting for bacc/md

Something to consider: If a student gets a scholarship for half tuition off, and no other financial aid ...the bill is still around $32,000/ year!
And if you are OOS you need to add cost of transportation /going home for vacation etc.
Better than $50K a year but still hefty......

i heard usc comes out on the 26th!

Tuitionsaver, you are definitely right, but 50k is quite common for most private universities around the country. Even UCLA is 46k. So, the 18k goes pretty far.

Encumbrance, yep, decisions are mailed tmrw.

I open my mailbox... and there it is in all its glory-- an envelope from USC!

"That's strange," I think to myself. "I thought BMD decisions were going to be mailed on the 26th."

Bursting with anticipation, I tear open the envelope.

The card reads "USC 2008- Neighborhood Receptions for Newly Admitted Students."

Yay. -_-

xcrunner: UCLA is not 46k....its more like 26k.

46k for us out of state students :).

oh right. haha I guess the UC system is pretty nice to us California kids. but after visiting USC, USC >> any UC.

I agree, lol. And the UCs are kind of stingy with their money. I mean, USC is giving me 35k, UCSD...2,500 a year. And four years of guaranteed housing. Woo.

Rejected. Sucks.

spidey, are u in socal?

"Thank you for your interest in..."

Darn it.

Socal? No. Southern California, yes. Good luck with you letter. I really wanted to get into this program, and I thought I gave a great interview. Success is only a mirage for some.

wow. Spidey you had some impressive stats and ECs too....I'm in norcal= Northern California....so I'm probably gonna get my letter tomorrow.
Although I felt good about my interview (except for a couple minor things I felt I could've worded better if I got a second shot), I still maintain that they couldn't have cut down from 100 to 40 people ONLY based on a 15 minute interview. It just seems really hard for me to fathom how they could do that except for a few border line cases.

Thanks. I tried my best to make myself something else besides a "stats" kid, but that didn't work. Oh well. I'm not so sure about medicine anymore, though. Competition to get into med school seems too fierce nowadays. Getting into the BA/MD program really would have minimized stress during college, with the MCATs and all. Perhaps it really isn't worth it. Best of luck to you.
PS: I'm surprised people in northern California call it Norcal. It kind of bugs me when people call Southern California Socal.

oh, sorry... southern california! at least u got to the interview stage, though. that's saying something...

I'm really sorry Spidey :(. This really scares me now, I wasn't counting on knowing until AT LEAST the end of the week. Do you mind sharing when the letter was postmarked?
