Hi yall,
I already applied to USC before the scholarship deadline and I wanted to know if I could get in with a 3.4 UW and 26 ACT. I applied as an international relations major, and have my own tennis company and won 4th place at an international Deca competition. I believe that my essays are pretty strong, and I come from a single parent family and so I work 14+ hours a week to help support.
Can you please tell me if I should get my heart set on USC or even if I have a chance?
thanks!!
Last year, they rejected 3000+ students with test scores and grades in the 99th percentile. Those applicants likely had outstanding ECs as well. No one should get their heart set on USC until admission packet is in hand. Marshall is highly highly competitive and USC’s acceptance rate is 16%, lower for certain majors. You can hope, but your stats are low and like many applicants, you need to have other schools you would love to attend. Keep an open mind to what different colleges can offer - and remember it is what you put into it that determines your success at any school.
CADREAMIN thanks!
You’re welcome, I don’t want to be debbie downer, but it is sad to see any student set their heart on a single school - so protect yourself from disappointment and have multiple options that includes USC, but also others. It will be a healthier and more fun senior spring that way. With holistic admissions, students with lower scores can get in over students with higher scores sometimes - but what those lower score folks seem to offer is a cohesive application with passion about something that USC is looking for. They have “it.” Frankly, there is just a “who knows what they are looking for at this point in time” factor to getting into USC for some students.
