As you guys can see, I'm torn :(... So far, I'm still leaning towards CAL vs USC Marshall. But UCLA is still a great choice!!! My biggest question is: Which one is better? Cal Econ or USC Marshall????? I know Cal is ranked higher generally and that's why I'm torn between those choices, I love Berkeley, I love its name, its reputation, its campus. However, I don't really wanna study Econ as much as Biz. And by the way, I love USC's extensive connection in SoCal =( =( ...

If you don’t want to study econ, then you have an easy decision lol. USC Marshall is excellent and I would say is as a good at business as Cal is at econ.

well abc999, have you already been accepted to USC marshall?? if so, can you post your stats on the Official 2009 USC decisions thread??? :)

secondly, if you know you don’t want to study econ, then why go study econ at cal. USC marshall is one of the top business schools and their alumni network is incredible so you’ll have many opportunities in L.A.

USC is a top 30 school as well and still very prestigious. USC has better athletics and there will probably me more to do in the heart of L.A. :)

It’s true that I don’t like studying pure Econ, but I love Berkeley and its reputation!!! It’s the big part of my dilemma right now…Plus, I"m thinking about doing grad school, so will the name “Berkeley” get me to more prestigious grad school than USC or UCLA?

And yes, I will post my stat on the USC thread.

Thank you guys, any comment is appreciated…

not if you do poorly. honestly, if you do really well at whatever undergrad school you go to, you’ll end up at a good grad school. Plus, all three of those universities are very prestigious and well-known around the country so where ever you end up and granted you do well there, you’ll get to a prestigious grad school as well.

USC is not that well-known compared to Berkeley, plus I’m really aiming for the ivy leagues for grad school. so… :(

Do a little research and you will find that the “brand-name” of your undergrad has zero weight on graduate school admissions.

Grad schools are mainly focused on stats. They’d accept someone with a 3.9 from Arizona State over a person with a 3.65 from Stanford.
