I have a very tough choice ahead: the Marshall school of business or the goizuetta.
Anyone know what I should go for?

Where do you want the majority of your job opportunities to be when you graduate?

East Coast or West Coast?

California or Georgia?

Los Angeles or Atlanta?

hsu,
There are specialties within the schools. What is your specialty? For example, if you are interested in Entrepreneurship SC has an outstanding program, also Real Estate. SC’s progarms are global based, with special emphasis on the Pacific Rim.

As you can see from my name I live in Georgia. Emory is very much a northeastern oriented school, down in a southern state. It has a very “eastern” vibe. Have you visited the campuses? Emory is not in Atlanta, but is in Decatur.

Are finances a problem at either university?

hsu,
There are rankings…and rankings. In U.S. News Marshall is a top ten ranked undergraduate business school. In that rankings Emory’s is not in the top ten.

Check their rankings as Marshall has at least five programs in the top ten. Also, Marshall has the only program with travel abroad opportunities for freshmen. It also has a unique business option of Business Administration/Cinematic Arts. Also offered at SC is the dual option of Business Administration/Computer Science (In Viterbi). Marshall has a fine program in Business Administration/International Relations as well.

A great plus for Marshall is the CAP program. Students are mentored as upperclassmen by a successful USC alumnus/alumna.

there are other things to take into account. are you into bigtime sports and school spirit or does that turn you off?

i had to make the same decision as you (not business, but emory vs usc) a few years ago. made my choice and never looked back.

The thing is, I’ll be going into finance and accounting. I don’t know reputable the two colleges are in those fields. Also, I heard that you also have to apply to emory’s business school, which is another consideration.

I think I’m leaning towards Emory because I have lived in the east for the majority of my life.

I don’t care too much about sports so it’s not a big consideration, but I do appreciate good games :)

USC’s leventhal accounting school is top-notch, ranked in the top 5 nationally for both undergraduate and masters.

Georgia has Waffle House. LA doesn’t.

LA has Freebirds, Georgia dosen’t.

^^^ True, but in Georgia you’re much more likely to hear “Freebird”.
