I am an international student from China. I got into the Biochemistry/Biomedical Engineering program at a number of undergraduate schools this year but my top two choices are USC and UM. I received a presidential scholarship for 30,000 dollars per year for UM and no scholarship for USC. My family isn’t very rich and it would save them a lot of pressure if I chose UM. Which school should I choose?
UM is very vague.
University of Maine
University of Massachusetts
University of Miami
University of Michigan
University of Minnesota
University of Mississippi
Regardless, they are all good universities, and if money is tight, and you can save your parents $30,000/year, then I suggest you do it.
USC is also vague, but as finances are an issue, I would suggest you go to a school with the lowest out of pocket cost for your family.
If this is Michigan and the University of Southern California, I’d go with Michigan since it’s a lot cheaper.
I doubt it is Michigan simba. Michigan does not typically give scholarships to international students. I would guess Miami.
Ah, that makes sense. Maybe it’s University of Manitoba?
If it is for engineering, it is not likely for UMich. They do not even offer $30k scholarships to domestic students except for the few full tuition ones. $20k would be the typical large scholarships for OOS students. Grant is another story, but OP is not a domestic student.
It’s UMiami, sorry for not being clear!
Thank you guys for your help!!!
Miami, the cheaper option.
I don’t think this is a hard decision given your field.
