on the contrary to many of the ignorant opinions posted above, usc is not a ‘very big step’ above miami. the dorm and food quality will be comparable, if anything the weather is better in miami, umiami has a much nicer campus. and aps transfer just as well there. usc is ranked a few spots higher academically, but miami has the advantage everywhere else

^HAHA. Unless you’ve gone to both USC and Miami, I don’t think that you could make the assertion that the dorm and food quality can be comparable. Personally, I think that southern Californian weather is MUCH better than Florida because humidity sucks. USC has a gorgeous, impeccably kept campus, and if you want to pull the rankings game, I’m pretty damn sure that USC is quite a bit more than a “few” spots higher than Miami is. Especially for someone looking into film, USC is far and above the better choice over Miami. Also, USC just launched a human performance major this past fall which:

“[The Bachelor of Arts in human performance] is designed for students with an interest in applied kinesiology. This degree option is intended for students planning to pursue careers in teaching, coaching, sports management, sports law, athletic training, sports communication, sports journalism and other sport-related professions. Human performance is also an ideal program for students interested in becoming sports agents.”

Ok so I was a freshman at USC and I transferred to UMiami and it is so much better! But it really depends on what kind of college experience you would like. Honestly they are both challenging in academics you just have to pick good classes and not take easy courses if you would like to challenge yourself. At both schools everyone is pretty intellectual and you won’t have a problem finding people to encourage a topic of discussion. To be sincere if you really want the “prestige” that is said to come with USC than I would try it out for yourself, but if you would rather a good environment that will make your college experience enjoyable instead of mediocre than maybe you should try UM. The worst that happens is you transfer if you can’t stand either one. But I guess I just found the people I got to know to be impersonal and caught up in Greek life. But don’t get me wrong USC isn’t horrible at all it just wasn’t exactly for me. But good luck on whatever decision you make and if you have any questions feel free to ask! I went to both USC and UM and I am familiar with both LA and Miami. And wanderlusting…have you tried EVK? it’s kind of gross haha.
