USC safety

How safe is USC? It's my dream school, and I haven't heard the greatest things about safety there...any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are on campus, it is very safe. That being said…the only ones who get to live on campus are basically freshmen. Off campus, it is important to always be vigilant about your personal safety. Live only in areas patrolled by USC. Don’t walk alone at night. Use campus cruiser even if you are just going two blocks at night! Don’t flash around your expensive anything…phones etc. Don’t walk at night and talk on the phone. It is not a school you can attend and not be careful of your surroundings.

Its everyones dream school…

I asked my fellow admitted students about the safety and many of them said its very safe if you are on Figueroa (the main street where restaurants are next to USC) in the daytime. Campus itself is secure and immediate areas outside of campus are patrolled frequently. Basically, you run into problems at night. When at all possible, travel with a buddy and don’t have expensive electronics in view.

If you want a school where you can study late at the library, or work in a lab, or at at someone’s place, then walk back to housing that is not on campus look elsewhere. There are many campuses where doing this is normal and safe. Not at USC. Was talking to a kid from there about the latest incident and he said he is safe there cause he doesn’t go out at night, that’s not how it is supposed to be.
