@lakergirl6232 No update for me yet. I’m praying though!
@lakergirl6232 yes… those #s sound about right… but they do factor in a yield rate, which I think for SCA is higher than the norm and closer to 60-70%… so that they achieve the targeted # of enrollees. So they do accept a few more than what they are shooting for.
@drumminggeek87 Financial aid offers… if nothing is missing from the applicant or their family… are usually posted to your FAST portal by the end of March. Some may get them by early next week. It sort of depends on when the file became complete… as it takes a few days thereafter to finalize things. Merit offerings should be finalized within the next couple days.
@Terabyte Good luck! Sending positive thoughts your way
Thank you @mollygrrrl
My son got in SCA film ,his dream school . terrible ,painful waiting. we are so sad about two hours ago when our neighbor got USC package (not SCA)
Congrats again to all those getting into SCA. It’s an amazing school (clearly #1 for film/tv/media/animation/games/etc) within an amazing university and a huge accomplishment in terms of cracking the admissions code on par with getting in to HYPS…
Son is a Spring admit to CAMS!
Portal only
South Texas (3 day zone)
He is in awe.
This is slightly off topic but does anyone know if there’s already a good USC 2023 Facebook Group set up? I saw a couple on Facebook but they were both run by companies which seemed shady to me, so I was curious if any people admitted earlier this year had already started one or if any of the USC insiders knew lol.
I was rejected, but it’s okay. I’m thinking of applying for transfer after a year at my state school.
To everyone accepted, congrats! And if you’re also in the rejected gang, don’t worry, it isn’t the end of the world.
My D19 was admitted to Marshall. 36/3.96&4.67/NMF, Illinois Public, Asian Female, Decent ECs & Essays. No hooks
@Terabyte I am so so sorry. I was hoping you would get to meet my son at SCA. I hope you are able to transfer. Please let me know if you get accepted next year! Best of luck. I am sure you will do GREAT wherever you land because you are very talented!
ACCEPTED!! USC FILM PRODUCTION
Thank you, @lakergirl6232. I really appreciate your kindness. High hopes for being a Trojan in the end!
Sadly, Rejected. I had an interview. I might try to appeal possibly. Congrats to everyone admitted!! Well deserved each and every one of you!!
D is in for Film Production. Fingers crossed for financial aid.
Hi!!
CONGRATS ON EVERYONE WHO GOT IT!!
I’m an accepted student for television and film production living on the east coast.
btw still haven’t received my package so sad…
I’m just wondering does anyone know the statistics on the class of 2023 for SCA?
Like how many students are there in total for class 2023 and roughly how many in each major?
SCA Acceptance Rate this year?
Does USC release information specifically for SCA? Because all the statistics I found are generalizing regarding the whole school; rather than just SCA.
And follow up to @drumminggeek87 question, does anyone know where is the facebook group set up?
Thanksss!!
@AdoptedHippo , congrats on getting accepted too!! If you log back into your portal they have linked a Facebook group for everyone now. I’d log back in and see if it’s on your portal now (mine was on the right hand side near the notice about the “FAST” financial aid portal), and if not just let me know and I’ll send you the link!
@AdoptedHippo Congrats!
SCA has never published such #s as best I can tell. Absent an insider spilling the info, all that any of us can go on is speculation and the #s overheard or talked about over the years. Overall, the SCA admit rate is likely in the 1-6% range this cycle… varying by program… with writing and IMGD likely being in that 1-2% range… production likely in the 2-4% range, animation and MAP likely in that 3-5% range and CAMS likely in that 5-6% range.
If anyone out there discovers the exact #s, please feel free to correct me or update these percentages. This also reflects the inverse in terms of #s admitted for each program as best I understand it… with more CAMS admits and writing and IMGD admitting the fewest.
A few years ago… it was posted on CC that SCA Admissions aimed for class sizes (which means they admitted slightly more than these #s to allow for yield) of 75 Cinema and Media Studies, 50 production, 12 IMGD, 15 Screenwriting, and 24 animation majors. That was before MAP was an option. Back then… Production was reported to be 4-6% admitted & IMGD was 2%. But more are applying these days… thus my downward speculation in terms of percentages. For example… when these percentages were quoted, the overall USC admit rate was around 17%. It is now 11%.
Thank you so much @drumminggeek87 I will go check right now!
@WWWard thank you for the information.
Ur rich knowledge and information have been very helpful. Have been reading so much from your posts and your the main source where I get updates!
Cheers!!!
Congrats to all that got in. FYI- Rejected for Film Production. He had a respectable ACT score 33, decent gpa, really good documentary piece and an interview with Michael Fink that went very well. White middle/upper class boy. He will be going to DePaul now as his second choice. Look up CINESPACE! Its where all the Chicago shows plus many more are filmed and is soon to be the largest sound stage complex in the nation! They have teamed up with DePaul and the students have classes there and access to all the same equipment as the 9 ongoing shows being produced there on a daily basis. The industry is going to Chicago to film!
