USC vs McGill

Any other parents wishing that NickelXenon and QuixoticRick had appealed???

You still seem to miss the point entirely. However, I'm not going to waste any more of my time arguing with a mother who obviously is not going to be any help to me.

Alamemom: Yes I do miss them both.
I always enjoyed their openness, ..and how straightforward, honest and supportive they were.
I think these two would have fit in well within USC, ... just very down to earth. I guess USC does make mistakes.
I wish they had appealed too. They both deserved to get in.

They both had such wonderful other options, I know they will thrive. I just wish they were thriving alongside my D.

I'm not sure how this thread developed from the stance of not being "into the frat/sorority blonde bimbo stereotype that ive heard so much about at USC" to one where " if you weren’t in those frats/soros you were not allowed to party with them, which I find ridiculous."
I think I missed something.

I'm guessing OP wants to party but does not want to join a sorority in order to do it.

Rascalmuffin- Who have you been talking to? Bruins? I would recommend actually speaking with a USC student or an alumni- it doesn't sound like you have.

Well said Georgia Girl. Many women at USC are not only outgoing and attractive, but also highly intelligent, poised and ambitious. They are able to balance a full social calendar while acheving success in academics and taking on leadership roles in many clubs and campus organizations. I feel honored to be included in this group, and so should you rascalmuffin.

Thanks to all of you who refuse to condone this outdated and ignorant outlook- this natural blonde definitely appreciates it!

Naah, we got them beat in that department: Hottest Student Bodies: The 50 Best Colleges Ranked By Looks: 1-10

Perhaps Rascalmuffin has a point... D was accepted to at least three of the top-10 schools... Oh, wait, she is not a blonde

Rascalmuffin,

If you're worried about not being able to party, then don't be. I've spoken to several USC students and they say that girls are allowed in regardless of Greek affiliations, however, guys have a tougher time of getting into the parties (which are usually hosted by fraternities). Hence why, if you are a guy that wants to party, you should join a fraternity to guarantee it.

Although the misunderstanding about your original post is regrettable, the way that you phrased your question was loaded and appeared offensive. As it is especially difficult on the internet to discern tone of voice, etc, I would suggest putting extra care in the future before you post anything that could be considered offensive. This is especially because USC has come a long way from its former stereotype, and is working hard to convince doubters of its newfound academic achievements. From the first read, you just seemed like another one of these doubters.

I, for one, am getting pretty sick of hearing:
Friend/Teacher: Oh where are you going next year?
Me: USC
Friend/Teacher: Ah, the University of Spoiled Children/Second Choice.
Me: (Thank you for your tactless suggestion that I have no brains or talent.) ...Actually no.

I really think that USC is a great choice for school next year (obviously haha). It's big, but without being overwhelming like at a public school. The people are all incredibly friendly and supportive (Trojan family); the school spirit is fun and amazing (school spirit and pride is actually really important for me. I've gone to a school for 4 years where nobody really cares at all about it, and it's pretty depressing). Basically, you're going to get an excellent education and have a blast while doing it.

Another plus: SoCal weather! and Disneyland! and Seaworld! and Six Flags!

Hope that helps. :]

gotrojans- thanks, thats what i was attempting to do on this thread originally. do you go to USC currently? if so i have a few more questions for you if youd be willing to answer them.

rascal: Are you on facebook and have you joined the Uni of So Cal 2012 network? If you'd like some answers from present students it might be a good a good source. Apparently there are a number of threads where questions are asked on various issues. It's also a way to meet new incoming students. It may further help you make your decision.

To clear one thing up about (I haven't read through the entire thread), girls are allowed in all parties - they just walk in. Guys need to know someone in the house if it's a fraternity party.

sequoia: yeah, i have done that, its been a great help, made my decision a lot easier. im pretty sure ive made my mind up finally!

sfgiants: ok, thanks, thats good to know
