USC vs UCB??

The big problem for me rn is price :// I love USC so much it’s my dream school I just can’t afford it (they bumped down my merit scholarship to 1/4, which I’m grateful for it’s just not realistic for me to go, and I don’t qualify for FA. I called their FA office and they said I was “too significantly wealthy” to qualify.

My parents aren’t helping me pay for college, they’ve both been physically and emotionally and emotionally abusive towards me, but I still cannot declare independence)

I’d have to take out loans either way, so which one should be breaking my bank? I plan to go to law school afterwards, which is why I love USC bc you could focus focus on journalism in undergrad, while UCB seems to have this approach in grad school.

If you are planning for law school afterwards I don’t think it is wise to break the bank for an undergraduate degree.

You know, you can’t spell SUCKS without spelling U$C…
I think the choice is fairly obvious, and Go Bears!

What @socalemma says - USC is about twice what Cal is (discounting any money USC throws your way) if you are in-state. Not sure how much money you will be able to cobble together between loans (if they don’t co-sign), scholarships and F/A if you have to do it on your own, but I’m assuming you have that figured out.

You need to find a full ride merit scholarship.

See if any schools in http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21089443/#Comment_21089443 are still accepting applications with eligibility for automatic full ride (not just full tuition) scholarships.

Berkeley and USC are not peer schools, specially if we’re talking about pre law, or as a pre-law training ground. Berkeley is head and shoulders superior to USC as a prelaw school.

Try checking out the who gets onto the best law programs in the nation (T14) and you can see Berkeley is well ranked (always in the top 8 in the nation) while USC isn’t even in the top 25.
