I am an international student from india admitted to these three colleges

My intended major is Mechanical Engineering but I might switch to Electrical Engineering.
I also want to minor in a business related subject.

I am leaning towards USC a little, but am still very confused

USC- Private- hence smaller classes, more overall prestige(I think). Has a minor in business administration, better overall college experience, most expensive of three, not so good neighbourhood.

UCLA- cheaper, better engineering, ranked a bit higher, better location

UCSD; best engineering program of the three.

All are good schools. But as a foreign student, you may also have to factor in one thing that no one talked about: location of the school.
UCLA is just in west of Beverly Hills. It is within walking distance to the business district. The surrounding residential neighborhood is affluent. Overall, it is pretty safe and close to lots of restaurants and businesses.
USC is south of downtown LA. Downtown LA for those who never visited, is not the safest and cleanest area you want to be in. USC does do a fine job keeping their students and faculties safe INSIDE of the campus with their hundreds of campus security and police. But if you step 3 block outside of the campus, well, you better watch where you are heading.
UCSD is right next to the beach and in La Jolla which is an affluent city north of San Diego. The campus is more secluded from any downtown or business. But the surrounding is just beautiful. Within 2 minutes of walking, you can actually get to the nice beaches. You also will enjoy 300 days of sunshine in a year. Quality of life is by far the best of all of your choices.

Academically, these are all great schools. UCLA does have an edge when it comes to international recognition. USC, for the last 20 years, has been spending tons of money to beef up its academics and the quality of their faculty now is definitely at par with the best. UCSD, not as well established as UCLA and USC, however, is the up and coming star of the UC system. If you are admitted to the honors program at UCSD, you shouldn’t think twice. If you are in UCSD’s honors program, UCSD will really take you in their wings and make sure you strive ahead. But then, this program is very exclusive as only about 25 to 30 student from each of its 6 colleges (total about 150 to 200 student per class) are invited.
