<p>USC vs. UCLA?

<p>well UCLA sucks, and USC rocks. UCLA also doesn't know how to admit people. I got into Northwestern and USC so far, and my only rejection was UCLA? And I am ELC. Wierd eh? :)</p>
<p>USC's campus is also really spread out, USC is all together. it's beautiful. Tons of palm trees. It really depends on what program you are going to... anything entertainment, go to USC. otherwise, well... make the right decision. :)</p>

<p>UCLA is actually a great school (sorry Guidez). It is more of a challenge to navigate, and you don't have the same closeknit community, but within departments there is a very fraternal feeling. The surrounding area (Westwood) is terrific for hanging out, great food, bars, entertainment. You don't feel like you need to get away to have fun and be safe. It's a different kind of experience but I wouldn't say USC is better, just different. It depends on what you want, and what your major will be. I'd pick based on the department first, then the atmosphere I want second. Oh, and UCLA has a great film department as well.</p>
<p>Guidez: at least now I know why you are so opinionated about 2 schools you've never attended! same thing happened to me 30+ years ago! that;s how i ended up at USC. UCLA rejected me too! Lots of USC kids were rejected by UCLA and/or CAL and that's why they talk so bad about the UC's. I know, I remember.</p>

<p>It's going to be difficult to get a non-biased statement from current Trojans about this one, not only because UCLA is our cross-town rival, but because Trojan spirit is really, really big (honestly more so than other colleges).</p>
<p>NAgony summarized it well. We're not necessarily a better school overall, just different.</p>
<p>However, I will say that UCLA is a lot bigger, so there's less of the school unity/pride thing there. The campus can also be a challenge to navigate because of its size and also because the whole campus is in the hills (can't bike, so you have to climb the hills using your own two feet). Westwood is also a great area to hang out at.</p>
<p>Now to give my completely biased opinion: USC is so much better than UCLA by far!!!!!!!!</p>

<p>guidez.. thats really silly considering you havent attended either school and dont live in LA. but i suppose you'll fit in well with the trojan boys who are all full of usc pride.</p>
<p>both are great schools. for certain programs, one school will be better than the other. both have beautiful campuses, though UCLA is definately in a better location by far. both have excellent academics. both are competitive, but at usc you can get in with "connections" while at UCLA there is nothing of the sort. both have a strong sense of community, though i think usc wins there.</p>
<p>bottom line, both are top notch universities, but for your pocketbook and location, UCLA wins.</p>
<p>I've visited both schools, and have friends at both schools. For my intended major, USC is the best in the nation, so I actually have done my research.</p>

<p>Anyway, it really does have everything to do with your taste. Plus, all my Trojan buddies tell me LA sucks, vice versa. I don't think there's no better way than to actually visit yourself...but that won't do much I guess.</p>
<p>I'm only biased against USC because their application process ****ed me off and their admissions people were very rude to me on the phone.</p>

<p>Namaste, I disagree about not being able to network and make connections at UCLA. Their alumni assn is very active and is a pretty impressive list also. They help make the networking possibilities. UCLA faculty have great connections in the community; LA loves UCLA. Remember, 90% of UCLA grads are CA residents when they graduated, and over 50% still live in CA.</p>
<p>I never said you can't network at UCLA. I know several UCLA alumni who speak of it. What I meant was, you can get into USC with connections (i.e. wealth, knowing the right person) which you can't do at UCLA.</p>
