Hello! I’m having a really hard time deciding between USC and UCSD.
In terms of career goals, I want to become an astronomical researcher so I want to have access to (preferably) undergrad astronomy research to get experience but any physics research works as well. I’m thinking about doing a physics major and CS minor (cs would help w/ research and serve as a back up plan) so I’m also juggling which school has the better program in these areas.
Considering this, which school would be the better choice?
@hyponova . . .
I believe this would be right into UCSD’s wheelhouse (baseball metaphor). I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a USC grad who has gone into astronomy, astrophysics, or cosmology, and there wouldn’t be many at SD, simply because your aspirations are incredibly unique. You sound almost like a Cal Tech or Princeton type aspirant, and I’m sure you desire to go to grad school at one of them.
Best of Luck – don’t really like saying this because you obviously don’t need it.
