I really like UNC. But my sister goes there and I want to try to start something new. I feel like I would love USC, but it's far and more expensive (even with 10k scholarship). I plan to go to graduate school, so I'm looking for a fun undergraduate, but still a school where people would say "wow he's smart." I will most likely go Pre-Med route with Kinesiology/EXSS major. I love sports and would probably look to join a frat.

theman44,

Did you apply for financial aid? If so, have you received your financial aid package?
If you have the opportunity I suggest visiting the campus, taking a tour, sitting in on a class and meeting with an academic advisor. You must be familiar with UNC since your sister attends.
USC is one of the most diverse universities in the nation. It is in the center of a metropolitan area where over 1,000 different languages are spoken. Cultural venues such as museums, theatres and art galleries are only a short distance. It is an entertainment and media center. Opportunities for internships are available due to the presence of huge industries such as electronics, entertainment, manufacturing, aerospace and pharmaceuticals. It is the home of many universities and colleges. Outdoor activities are available all year. And there is the beach…
If you expect to qualify for medical school you will need to study and make top grades wherever you decide to attend. You can have fun, but those pre-med classes are challenging.

Have you applied for any local scholarships? All these can help financially.

@theman44 is your 10k scholarship the dean’s scholarship from USC?

usc is an experience. you can’t quite put words to it. but basically:

sports+smarts+frats=usc

boom. enough said.

My son will be deciding between the same two. Except in his mind there is no decision. He wants to be a Trojan but we cannot commit until we hear back on his scholarship and financial aid. I am so thankful to live in NC and have such a great affordable option. You have two great choices. Good luck!

@ibmx92 yes it is the Deans Scholarship
@twinkie the same can apply for UNC though lol
