I was accepted to USC Annenberg as a PR major and was wait listed at Peabody at Vandy. I am having trouble deciding on whether to pick USC and just see what happens at Vandy, or whether to really try to go after a spot at Vandy.

Some more about me: Like I said I was accepted as a PR major at USC, but I'm also interested in marketing and business in general. I am also very interested in photography and graphic design, so I would like to incorporate that into my curriculum somehow. While I do work hard, I am very social and interested in the party scene. I would be interested in going Greek at either school. As far as what I think of both schools, I absolutely love Nashville and think it would be a great place to live. It is a 5 hour drive from home, whereas California is a plane ride. Some of my best friends are going to USC, so it's not like I would be far from home and totally alone, but I don't want to let friends influence my decision. I am visiting USC for the first time this week, so I'm sure that will answer a number of questions. I am trying hard not to solely pick USC because I'm in already, but I know it is an outstanding school on its own.

I will most likely enroll at USC and wait it out at Vanderbilt, but is there anything you could tell me that indicates I should pick USC? Open to all and any advice! Thanks

How was your visit to USC? Was it a positive experience?

You might want to check last year’s wait list results at Vanderbilt. Some colleges are placing hundreds on the wait list with little or no chance of admission. Are you on a priority wait list? I would try to discover if any were taken from the wait list at Vanderbilt in recent years.

usually waitlists tend to inform the lucky ones after may 1, caandidates reply date. so i would both aggressively go after vandy and try to get off the wait list there by following up with your admissions counselor, but put the deposit down for USC anyway, and if you get off the waitlist at vandy all you lose is a few hundred dollars compared to not having a college to commit to.

@"Georgia Girl" I loved USC and heard endlessly good things about it’s alumni connections, etc. And as far as the waitlist at Vandy goes, apparently 10% of the class comes from the waitlist, though I have heard that it is rather large. I genuinely think if I worked at it I got manage to get a spot, I am just not sure I am fully committed if I do. I think I may be more in love with Nashville than I am with Vanderbilt. I think academically, I would be well-equipped at both schools. I think it is more of about the social aspect and the culture of each school. I am kind of under the impression that Vandy is more southern, whereas USC seems more diverse. Lots to think about!
