Usc

is there any way/tips on how to get financial aid from there as of now?
I really, really, reallllllly want to go but they literally gave me $0.
My friends suggested letters or phone calls but does anybody know the success rates of that ? Or just how to write them in general

I really want to go to USC too. My parents make about 150k and my EFC is 9.5k (two older undergrad siblings attending college right now). USC’s financial aid package gave me about 21k (13 in grants, 5.5 in loans, 2.5 in workstudy) which leaves me about 23k to pay for plus housing. My parents just can’t afford that (I wouldn’t want them to have to pay that much) and I don’t want to have massive debt once I graduate, especially when I can just attend one of my state schools for much less (I live in Oregon).

I’m going to consult with a financial aid counselor at this student resource center by my school to help me write a letter of appeal to the FA office at USC to get a better offering. Hopefully they’ll consider some of my special circumstances and provide me with a better package cause I really want to go there.

$23K seems high with two other kids in college on that kind of income and your EFC, unless there is something else going on, so talking with the FA office is a good idea.

I would expect, though, that USC (and the other school) will boost your family’s EFC substantially when the oldest child graduates from college, and if this is USC’s actual financial plan for your freshman year in college that it is likely to be substantially worse later on.
